OK ... having recut X2 to my chronological liking, I'm moving on to incredible score for "The Matrix Reloaded." Yes, I'm insatiable. Blame Don Davis for writing such breathtaking music!

I've purchased the soundtrack, I've downloaded the mp3s from DD's website, and based on what I remember from the film I'm positing the following cue order:

    Main Title
    Trinity Dream
Multiple Replication (not sure about this one)
    Burly Brawl
    Teahouse
    "Niasiere"
Chateau (and alternate "Chateau Swashbuckling" cue)
    Mona Lisa Overdrive
    The Plan
    The Problem is Choice
    Contusion Conclusion

Now, here's where I need help ... I have no idea what to do with the "Matrix Reloaded Suite" ... How many cues is it comprised of? What are they? Where do they go chronologically?

I'm counting on YOU, Mr. Webmaster Goldwasser, to help me out here. Pretty-please?

Well, Wedge, since you asked nicely.

    Main Title
    Trinity Dream
    Teahouse
Burly Brawl ("Multiple Replication" is the orchestral portion of "Burly Brawl")
    "Niasiere"
Chateau (and alternate "Chateau Swashbuckling" cue)
    Mona Lisa Overdrive
    The Plan
    The Problem is Choice
    Contusion Conclusion

As for the suite, it's from all over the film, not in chronological order. I'm not even gonna touch that one.

    Dan

    MINOR SPOILERS ALERT

Here's what I think I've figured out pertaining to the suite. I'm sure there are inaccuracies, as there are probably some changes from one cue to another that are too seamless for me to notice, and perhaps other natural breaks in the music that I took for cue changes.

    0:00 - 2:19 ... Nebuchadnezzar docking in Zion
2:20 - 3:22 ... Neo & Trinity making out in the elevator, followed (as in the film) by the Zionites asking him to bless their children and so forth
    3:23 - 4:38 ... Neo kisses Persephone
    4:39 - 5:43 ... don't know about this one
5:44 - 6:37 ... Morpheus' speech to the Zionites before the ludicrous rave scene
    6:38 - 7:20 ... can't figure this one out either
7:21 - 8:33 ... Some of this music almost certainly comes from a scene in which we get a really huge view of Zion, but some of the music that preceeds it might be from another scene (is that a cue change at 7:50?)
8:34 - 11:19 ... I think this music all comes from when the three crews are mobilizing the climactic attack, when we see the various characters starting the attack intercut with footage of Morpheus preaching the prophecy again
    11:20 - 12:26 ... Can't get this one, either
12:27 - 17:34 ... This covers the events that take place after Neo leaves the white room, including (obviously) the big moment with Trinity, though some of the soft music towards the very end might be from a different scene.

So, if I presume that my interpretation is correct, and I combine my results with Dan's information, I believe the final picture looks like this (minus the three cues I don't know):

    Main Title
    Trinity Dream
    Suite (0:00-2:19)
    Suite (2:20-3:22)
    Suite (7:21-8:33)
    Suite (5:44-6:37)
    Teahouse
Burly Brawl ("Multiple Replication" is the orchestral portion of "Burly Brawl")
    "Niasiere"
    Suite (3:23-4:38)
Chateau (and alternate "Chateau Swashbuckling" cue)
    Mona Lisa Overdrive
    The Plan
    Suite (8:34-11:19)
    The Problem is Choice
    Suite (12:27-17:34)
    Contusion Conclusion

    Are we almost there?

"Doddering Old Fool" comes RIGHT before "The Problem is Choice".

It's just after Neo enters the room with the Architect.

Thankyou to everyone who has helped put the pieces together on this soundtrack's true chronological order. I've been trying to edit together a true and correct representation of Davis' score together with some of my favorite bits from the first score. Query: does anyone know where the Furious Angels instrumental should go? I listened for it in the film and couldn't hear it. I'm probably going to put it on the second half of the score just to get a quiet moment in there somewhere...

    NP Guess what...

WHAH??? It underscored the first fight scene. So in the scheme of this discussion, it's before the Teahouse track.

    UPDATED CUE ORDER:

    Main Title (CD2 Track 1)
    Trinity Dream (CD2 Track 2)
Smith at the Door (MFTM mp3)
    Furious Angels (CD1 Track 4)
No Place Like Home (CD2 Track 7 [0:27-2:19])
    Bless The Children (CD2 Track 7 [2:20-3:22])
    Temple Prayer (CD2 Track 7 [16:36-17:34]
We Are Still Here (CD2 Track 7 [5:54-6:37])
    Into The Matrix (CD2 Track 7 [5:17-5:53])
    Teahouse (CD2 Track 3)
    Back Doors (CD2 Track 7 [11:20-12:26]
    Burly Brawl (CD2 Track 6)
    "Niasiere" (DD mp3)
    Make Me Believe (CD2 Track 7 [3:23-5:16])
    Chateau (CD2 Track 4)
Mona Lisa Overdrive (CD2 Track 5)
    Truck vs. Truck (MFTM mp3)
    The Plan (DD mp3)
    Destiny (CD2 Track 7 [8:30-11:19])
Doddering Old Fool (MFTM mp3)/(CD2 Track 7 [6:38-8:30]) -- they overlap
The Problem Is Choice (DD mp3)
    Hope and Love (CD2 Track 7 [12:27-16:35])
    No More Nebuchadnezzer (MFTM mp3)
    Contusion Conclusion (DD mp3)

    ADDITIONAL MUSIC AND ALTERNATES:

Final Flight Of The Osiris (DD mp3)
    Multiple Replication (DD mp3)
Cheateau Swashbuckling (MFTM mp3 - better sound quality than the DD mp3)
??? (CD2 Track 7 [0:00-0:26]) I couldn't place this. It might be unused music for Neo flying, tracked over by "Furious Angels" or something, so it could conceivably belong where it is on the disc.

Dan seemed pretty sure about "Doddering Old Fool" coming right after Neo enters the TV room, and right before "The Problem is Choice," but unless he knows something about an earlier cut of the film that I don't, he's wrong. Neo enters the TV room and has a conversation with the Architect which leads directly into the brief "The Problem is Choice."
update: "Doddering Old Fool" DOES come before "The Problem Is Choice," and overlaps with the cue I had previously titled "Through The Door." See subsequent posts for details.

There's still a LOT of awesome music missing, I might add ... the cue for the first exterior shot of the Nebuchadnezzer ascending is superb. I really hope we get another score/commentary track on the DVD! Or better yet -- an official complete score would be nice!

Ah ... then you DO know something I don't! Ask me if I'm surprised. So either Mr. Davis is incorrect (unlikely) or the cut of the film changed after the score was recorded (which wouldn't be at all surprising) Do you have Mr. Davis' permission to correct the rest of my invented track titles?

All the more reason to keep our fingers crossed for an isolated score with commentary! Has Mr. Davis commented on the likelihood of this?

NP: The Matrix Reloaded, of course.

Oh, wait ... stupid me ... "Doddering Old Fool" DOES come before "The Problem Is Choice" ... and it's even partly on the album! It's the music where Neo flies through the door with the Keymaker. It comes after "Destiny," but just before the death of the Keymaker and the SECOND door, which transports Neo into the room with the Architect.

Actually, now that you mention it, it was a pretty stupid question. Mea culpa.

What are opinions on this score? Personally I think it's fantastic. (Actually, that's probably pretty obvious since I'm re-editing official release tracks and using mp3 to construct the chronological order.) That choral crescendo in the final 5 minute section of the suite is pretty much the first hair-standing-on-the-back-of-not-very-hairy-neck I've had from film music this year.

Does anyone know what developments of the material Davis has planned for Matrix Revolutions? One can only hope it is as effective as that excerpt from Howard's Snow Falling on Cedars score that appeared on the teaser.

NP The Beyondness of Things (Barry) - 'The Fictionist' (track 9) is one of the most interesting track titles I've come across. Anyone know what it means?

I made a nice cdr of the First Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, and the the mp3's. It's a nice 80 min listenning experience, the only downside being the shifts in quality between mp3 and cd tracks.

I would assume that since Davis is releasing mp3's of his score that we won't be getting an independant score release. Shame too. The 2nd Matrix disc just isn't a very good representation of the score. I hope after Revolutions that we could get a "More music from the Matrix Saga" cd. Lol, just another fanboy's dream.

That's a rather bold assumption; Don released cues from his score to JURASSIC PARK III on his website, and there was a score release.... same with THE MATRIX for that matter.

Right now, there will be no "score only" RELOADED release. But, who is to say that there might not be something more substantial for the trilogy further down the line?

Never presume anything, just cause clips show up on the composer's site.
