Moments of TRIUMPH require accompaniment by...Mr. Herrmann'sThe Grotto from Journey To The Center Of The Earth...or Mr. Newman's marvelous "home run" from The Natural. And I hear both of 'em coming from out your way, Senator, I hear 'em!

I'm with Marian... what's all the fuss about? What happened? Is someone gonna have a baby, or did you just really, really like Matrix Reloaded, Mark?Jeron

No babies on the way here! No, it's just this: after THREE YEARS AND THREE MONTHS, the VA has finally decided to increase my Disability rating! Too, too long - I filed the action in February of '00. This brings a close to that chapter (and, in truth, a haunting feeling of injustice that dates back to when I got All Blowed Up in December of 1989 - roughly a third of my life ago). The pay and "bennies" are sufficient that I will be able to retire now, and do my best to live The Life Less Ordinary. The back pay is SUBSTANTIAL - gonna go buy a car, and take a trip to Jamaica, I think - and the monthly income will be more than enough to meet other needs. I'll never be rich, of course, unless I come across, say, Bill Gates, in the desert
; but travel and not-having-to-sweat-the-bills will do me just fine. Think I'll follow Peter O'Toole's lead and go "doddering off into antiquity" - fortieth birthday is two months away!
But an honestly Life-Changing event here, and a damned fine one. Again, all my thanks and love to those who've included me in their prayers over these years. Can't believe it, but it's all done except the direct deposit & getting the ID cards.
I think Ocho Rios in August sounds like the winning ticket......

Wow, congratulations Mark. I had no idea. That is great! So the movie and grub prior to the Williams concert this year will be on you, eh?
Really happy for you. I've been wondering how you have been, I'm elated to know you are... uhh, elated.

You may rest assured, Marian, that the Hatfield European Tour is forthcoming. You and Timmer better look out!
Dates and times TBA, as they say. We'll be needing to look for good gasthausen, since I doubt very much that Jerry would welcome visitors!
Thanks again, all.

Nope! But we really are going to come visit you before the year is through. I'd also like to see Bamberg again, 20 years after I was first stationed there (my very first commander was Lieutenant Colonel Tommy R. Franks!).
We just need to decide WHEN.
And if I had the money to bring you guys over for the Williams concerts at The Bowl, I truly would.

Hey Senator, my sister just headed back to England yesterday after visiting us for a fortnight. She said it's about time I came back over there. I heartily concur. In reality, it probably won't happen anytime soon, but when it does, I have a hike in the forests of Scotland on hold with Timmer and a train ride to Thor still on tap to catch. Perhaps a visit to Austria can also be inserted. Either way, we'll moviemusic our way from one end of Europe to the other if need be. Yeah!
