Is there a reason why this is called X2 instead X-Men 2?

Is there a reason why you need an answer?

But I forgot it was called X-Men United the title doesn't even appear in the film. I thought it would have been cool to have X2 X-Men United as the title.Jz

I think X-Men United was just attached by Fox to the posters and trailers...

No to mention the 'United' subtitle has not been used outside of ther US and Canada, nor does it even show on the official website. Just another odd decision from the people in Fox Marketing who probbaly thought X Men 1.5 was a GREAT title that wouldn't confuse anyone.

Well I think just X2 sounds stupid, I prefer X-Men 2. X-Men is the name of the comic and the first movie after all!
X-Men United sounds corny though.

In Brooklyn, everyone thinks X2 is Spike Lee's sequel to Malcolm X.

Good thing "XXX" has already been used so they can't use it for the next movie. Can you imagine "XXX: X-Men X-rated"?
Wait a minute, let me think about that. Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Femke Janssen, Rebecca Romajn-Stamos....HELL, YES, I CAN IMAGINE THAT!!!

and there's also a new movie out called XX/ XY...
if you XXX X-Women, just rent Monster's Ball (the porn title could be Monster Balls...oh yeah, I'm mature), starring Halle Berry, and Femme Fatale with Rebecca Romeijn.

Really when you think about it, X-Men United doesn't even fit the film at all... They were already United in the first one and they still are, just cuz ALL mutants (good and evil) join forces in this one, that doesn't mean they're all X-Men... Just my thoughts...Clayton

If you read the taglines on the posters, they'd say the exact same thing that I said.Clayton
