NP: Hellraiser Chronicles (Silva Screen Limited Edition)

The box set has landed, baby, and it's sweet music to these ears. Grooviness!

    More later.

I just heard Randy Miller's Hellraiser 3 for the first time recently and thought it was a gem. It contains some of the most brutal but brilliant action music I've heard in a while.
What ever happened to this talented guy?

Chris Young's original is great also. However, despite a lot of people loving it, I've always found his apocolyptic 2nd score a giant headache, impossible to sit through in one session. Just listening to all that choral stuff makes my mouth dry.

I had a whatever-happened-to-moment as well when I heard Hellraiser III again. So I did a little search. Lo and behold: Randy Miller's official site. He's still going strong, apparently.

After listening to a lot of the clips on Randy Miller's site it's pretty obvious he is a very talented composer. It's a real shame that he has fallen through the cracks it terms of getting no significant mainstream attention, but this has happened to many others before him - after all, there are only so many movies to score in a year, and opportunities are dwindling quickly with Hans Zimmers' minions queuing up for work with synthesisers in their trucks.
Hopefully Miller's chance will come again.
