I was curious the other day to know if Don Davis had any involvement with the music in the forthcoming 'Enter the Matrix' videogame. Turns out he does, to an extent, as I found this little nugget here at Music4Games.I'm not sure if the game soundtrack is getting a domestic release, but for those in the US, you can pre-order the game on any format and get a bonus DVD with making of, one of the animatrix shorts AND the game soundtrack on CD.
EB pre order info can be found here
Just FYI really. It sadly doesn't look like EB/Game will be doing that deal over here in the UK sadly but I'm sure I will find a way to get it. It may be a nice addition to have if some are not all that happy with the 2 CD soundtracl/score release Reloaded is getting.

THANKS for the updated Dan! For some reason I was under the impression this was just going to be a pc game, I'm excited to see it'll be on PS2 as well (since my computer is a dinosaur). Just ordered my copy, going to be an absolutely incredible game it looks like.Rich

Oh it's this multi-format extravaganza that I really hope will be good given the heavy involvement of both cast & crew involved with the films.www.gamestop.com are also offering the bonus DVD though oddly make no mention of the game soundtrack CD, though they do state '1 song from the soundtrack' which would likely be that Chris Vrenna's 'Take the Pill' song written just for the game.
This has me worried EB's definition of soundtrack is just this one song (although they do specificaly state CD soundtrack). I will try and look into this further. It'd be quite a shame if the game score isn't put out in some way shape or form...

FYI,Don didn't write anything new for this game. Erik Lundborg, who adapted his music from the first Matrix, the Animatrix, and Reloaded (as Don was writing it) wrote a few new things.

Actually no, it features the actors, sets, and is an introduction to the movie Reloaded. In a way Reloaded is the sequal to Enter the Matrix. Which makes it different from all other movie to game adaptions.I'm not sure what the music like, other than having parts adapted from The Matrix. As for the contents of the soundtrack, The developers won't release that info before its released :-/
I like music scored for games, especially when its high quality stuff with orchestra, But I have a feeling this DVD with be just songs :-/

The full deal regarding the game's place in the whole timeline is that it is set between Final Flight of the Osiris and Matrix Reloaded and sees you play as a choice of the Jada Pinkett character and one other you will see in Reloaded. You do cross paths with the likes of Neo, Trinity, Agent Smith....etc along the way...The game sees you taking part in things not seen in Reloaded at all and also sees you continue scenes that are from Reloaded that don't continue out on screen in the actual movie. For instance in the movie a character may go off somewhere, and in the game you'll see (and control) where they go with your completion of your objectives resulting in goings on in the movie. Given those involved, it SHOULD be great, so fingers crossed.
As has been said actors and sets were used especially. The game has 1hr of exclusive footage written and directed just for the game's evolving sub plot to the second movie by the Wachowski brothers starring the film's cast and assisted by the films crew.

Even if the computer game is just adapted music from Don's scores (especially RELOADED), I'd get the game soundrack, just for continuity. I like what I hear.Dan

I got this email back from ebgames after inquiring about the "soundtrack cd""Thank you for contacting EBgames.com. At this time we have limited
information on this offer. We are currently looking into it, we should
have more information tomorrow. The soundtrack only contains one song
and will be included on the DVD. We are still unsure what song it will
be. Once we receive further information it will be updated on the
website and I will email you with the information as well. I apologize
for any inconvenience that this may cause you."Oh well. My order is already cancelled.

Wise move. Dear lord they are idiots. I hope that prompts them to drop their blatant advertising of an 'Enter the Matrix Soundtrack CD' on that webpage.I shall now sulk.

Well, you can always just get the RELOADED soundtrack, and be happy with that....... or, maybe the PC version of the game will have MP3s like many others do these days.
