The usual please.
I've read the reviews but would rather put some of these in your discerning hands before I whip out the wallet.Rudy (Goldsmith) - How's the score beyond the main theme?
Matinee (Goldsmith)
A Far Off Place (Horner) - a recent thread said it's one of his more original scores. is that a point in favour?
Honey, I Shrunk The Kids (Horner) - is the sound quality good on this one?
The Age of Innocence (Bernstein) - I admit I don't have any of his scores. What's this sound like?
Amistad (Williams) - I love the opening piece, but what's the rest like? Thanks a 1,000,000.

Age of Innocence....really standout score from Bernstein. Once you hear the theme you're hooked. Though, it is a longish album to sit through.
Rudy is great all the way through to the end. not one to miss.Matinee, not a great score by any means, but it's pleasant enough. nice main theme.
Amistad. A tough score to sit through, Well-written stuff, but not one of Williams' more engaging scores. The haunting theme for Cinque is a highlight.

Rudy is a must buy.Matinee is not one that I listen to very often. I'd only recommend buying it if you're a Goldsmith nut like me.

A Far Off Place is definately one of Horner's more original scores ever with some great action music. You'll keep coming back to this one time and again.
Rudy is brilliant, Matinee OK but it has way too much use of synthesisers for my liking. Only for Goldsmith completists.
Amistad is one of Williams worst - an absolute bore - impossible to sit through.

How many were you planning on getting? If you get two, then it's an easy choice: Age of Innocence and Rudy. If you had to choose between the two of those, it's a tough decision, but I'd recommend the Bernstein if you don't have any of his scores. That's definitely a great place to start!Kirk

Since the only one nobody has chimed in on, I'll take it...Honey I Shrunk The Kids exists in two forms:
One runs about 38mins., great sound, very slickly produced(possibly an album mock up that was never released?). This 'version' includes 10mins. from Testament(gorgeous Horner, truly deserving of a proper release), and 30mins. of the equally gorgeous and moving In Country.
The other 'Honey' runs 60mins., with the great sounding 38mins. mentioned above, and a so-so sounding 22min. to make it the complete score. Not that much essential music in the longer version, but most of the finale, including the cereal bowl sequence, is on this one only.
If this is all verboten to talk about, I guess my post will be deleted, just wanted Dr. K to know that I know that he knows!

SeanPS...Matinee is terrific, really nice and tuneful. There was a bit of a backlash against it upon its release in '93 since it didn't sound like Total Recall or Rambo, but I still love it. It carries that Joe Dante stamp of fun throughout, and has a great take on Steiner's Summer Place theme that manages to pay homage to that piece, while being a lovely piece in its own right.
PPS...Age Of Innocence also gets a big thumbs up - each cue in the entire score is written in a waltz form, and the themes are gorgeous. A long album, lots of short cues, but well worth having.
