Do you know which piece is the one that Szpillman performs in the concert at the end of the movie? I would also like to know which piece is played when he is imagining a concert at the hospital. It really sounds like Chopin, but since I’m not a Chopin expert I’m not sure. It could be an orchestration by Wojciech Kilar perhaps.Any ideas?

P.S. Sorry, I don’t usually like to make this sort of questions, but my sister and I are just quite curious. She says it is Chopin, and I say it is an adaptation and orchestration of some Chopin’s piece by Kilar

That’d be Chopin’s Ballade No 1 in G minor.

Yeah, it was...the producers said Chopin's music was "too conventional"...but what was the guy supposed to do? I heard the film was temp tracked with so much Clementi that it would have been impossible for Chopin to do anything differently...
Oh, and don't forget to pick up Holst's fantastic rejected score for Star Wars.

Well, they finally did use Chopin. It’s interesting that they were trying to reject him.
The piece they use for the concert at the end is the orchestrated version of the Chopin’s Grand Polonaise, and it was not a Kilar’s adaptation.Rach
