It's good to see I am the one with the personal agenda when it's pretty darn clear Mr. BUySoundtRaXXX himself (Ford Thaxton) and company "invented" the ridiculous 30-day exclusive window for BuYSoUndtraCCCKS before the album became a royal screw up for him/them/it. Hopefully others have not forgotten last summer around these parts. That was one of the biggest bruises I've ever seen on a record label/"retailer" - damn crazy stuff!

And a note to Craig:I apologize for not making my $150 BuySoundtraXXX joke a little more obvious. I know you are a reader of this board, and wished no harm by joking like this. I had hoped everyone would remember the great debacle of last summer regarding this release.
Anyone have a link to that thread? Great fun.

Come on Peter, this "stuff" is old news. To err, is human. To forgive, divine. You're a good guy, let this "stuff" go.
Just my 2 cents.

Uh oh.Awww, screw that. This is something that should not be forgotten. That was total chaos, and several fellow soundtrack producers and retailers had LOADs to say about that crap. This was not an "err" in the sense those who "err'd" would like to believe, so there is no "divine."
I'm not pickin' fights here. Just calling it like I see it. You want me to move on? Here's some advice to use on me: Don't ask me to move on and it will happen all the sooner.
Cheers! I am looking forward to the release.

Well, you told me! I just think it's a waste of everyone's time to bring this up again. The "exclusive" deal originally announced by the label and retailer (which in my opinion was ill-advised) has no bearing on what is happening today. Whether it was meant as a joke or not, your opening message in this thread, and the insinuation that this retailer was price "gouging", was out of line and beneath your usual standards of civility. I've always thought of you as a fair minded fellow, and was surprised at your post.

Price gouging from Buysoundtraxs? I've never heard such ridiculous babble. The real reason the price is $150 from them is that Ford hand numbers - and then licks - each CD personally!!
I've heard they (BST) have already sold out, and that's just from the West Hollywood crowd.

Are you sure about the release date of 4/15? I understand it still hasn't gone to the plant yet.

Roger, are you doubting the release will be happening, or just on 4/15?The 4/15 release date on the MM site is arbitrary for limited editions, as there is no real release date. This is the estimated date these will be in the store here. Numenorean confirmed these CDs would be happening this week and forwarded ordering details, which was promptly filled. I then posted the above message (4/3... last week).
Of course, Numenorean is very well known for confirming things prematurely, but through various sources, it has been confirmed to exist in various stages. As such, pre-orders are accepted now. The actual date these CDs will be shipped all depends on Numenorean, but we're within a 2 to 3 week time frame.
Customers are at the mercy of Numenorean's ability to get this delivered when they say they will. Again, this time there is enough evidence to believe it is actually happening. Finally.

Boy, are we behind the game! Good thing you've got such an intrepid intellegence-gatherer as myself hereabouts. On 3/19, Muppet Central's Scott Hanson posted a link to the final cover art on his forum, and also revealed the complete track-list with times.http://www.scarecroe.com/files/dc_cd_final.jpg
DISC ONE - The Original Album
1. The Dark Crystal Overture (3:11)
2. The Power Ceremony (3:57)
3. The Storm (1:03)
4. The Mystical Master Dies (0:51)
5. The Funerals / Jen's Journey (5:25)
6. The Skeksis' Duel (1:41)
7. The Pod Dance (3:14)
8. Love Theme (3:17)
9. Gelfling Song (1:11)
10. The Gelfling Ruins (1:43)
11. The Landstrider Journey (0:44)
12. The Great Conjunction (4:13)
13. Finale (7:14)DISC TWO - The Complete Film Score
1. Opening Titles and Main Theme / Mystics' Sandpainting (4:54)
2. Jen Plays His Pipes (0:56)
3. Jen Goes To His Dying Master (0:39)
4. The Death of The Emperor / Death of the Mystic Master / Mystics Memorial Ceremony / Jen's Journey Through the New World (3:18)
5. Skeksis Debate Leadership / Skeksis Duel (Film Version) (3:10)
6. Chamberlain Is Attacked (1:10)
7. Skeksis Summoned By Alarm (0:50)
8. Garthim Are Dispatched / Jen On Aughra's Mountain (2:29)
9. Jen Enters Aughra's Observatory (1:11)
10. Jen Discovers Shard (0:22)
11. Observatory Destroyed / Mystics Set Out (1:18)
12. Gelflings Meet / Dreamfast (1:11)
13. Skeksis Feast - Part One (1:17)
14. Skeksis Feast - Part Two (0:30)
15. Batbirds Dispatched / Environmental Musical Sounds / Gelfling Song / Batbird Brought Down / Mystics Traveling #1 (1:15)
16. Pod Party / Destruction of Pod Village (4:10)
17. Jen and Kira Love Theme (1:36)
18. The Prophecy in the Ruins (2:09)
19. Escape from the Chamberlain / Kira Summons the Landstriders (1:47)
20. Jen and Kira Set Off On Landstriders / Pod Person Drained (2:37)
21. The Battle / Mystics Traveling #2 (4:20)
22. Jen and Kira in the Sewer (1:43)
23. Kira Brought Before the Skeksis (0:57)
24. Kira Drained in the Chamber of Life (1:12)
25. Kira Freed / Jen Goes in Search / Mystic Disintegrates / Mystics Traveling #3 (1:08)
26. Jen Trapped in Lair / Jen Reaches Chamber of Life (0:26)
27. Jen Discovers Crystal Chamber (3:40)
28. Gelfling Frightens the Skeksis / The Crystal Made Whole / Mystics and Skeksis Fuse / Finale / End Credits (16:10)
Can't say I care for all of these track titles ... "The Skesis Debate Leadership?" Whew! The excitement is palpable! "Mystic Disintegrates?" Ick!
Obviously the original cue titles. In addition, IF these track-times are accurate, the isolated DVD score will not be completely irrelevant. Many tracks appear to be longer in the film than they are on Disc 2 -- The Skeksis' Feast - Part One, for example. (And no, the disparity can't be accounted for by tracked/looped music ... although there is some tracking in the final film mix.) The absence of this music is puzzling. It's not a space issue, since Disc 1 has tons of room and Disc 2 comes out to only around 65 min. In theory, much more music could have been included. (I say "in theory" because there may have been -- and probably were -- other factors determining the final release length.)
In any case, these are VERY minor complaints when balanced against the extraordinary wealth of material this set represents. I eagerly await my copy, and I'll be sure to give a final report on any still-missing music once I have it in-hand!

Thanks for the info, Wedgie! I came across Scott's other web site at the end of March, toughpigs.com. It didn't have nearly as much as you've just posted. Hopefully this info above will get us talking about the film and music again, and less talk about the unimportant jest I made a week ago. Priorities, "you people"!! Looks great to me. And the best part is that they used the original poster art by the late, great Richard Amsel for the cover.Amsel was one of my favorite movie poster artist right next to the late Bob Peak. By the way, Bob Peak did promotional artwork for Dark Crystal too. You can find it by searching here: http://www.mjpeak.com/bp/bpeak.html

Update on the official release date! Please do not take this as any bad premonition, because it's not.... the "official" release date is now April 29. The good news: MM is expecting these by the 25th or so, sooner if we're lucky, so everyone will have their CDs mailed before the weekend of the 26th. It's been a long wait for this one.... and it's finally happening. Taste the sweeetness already.
