Regarding the upcoming club releases ... according to my FSM/Varese contacts, we're looking at:

ALIEN - THE DELUXE EDITION by Jerry Goldsmith
Honestly, we knew it was only a matter of time. Glad it's THIS time, though!

MAC AND ME by Alan Silvestri
Sure wasn't expecting this. Any opinions?

    CIMARRON by Franz Waxman
Not to be confused with "Stallion of the..." After the cuts from MGM's "The Lion's Roar," I can't wait to hear this one expanded!

    And finally.....

LINK - THE DELUXE EDITION by Jerry Goldsmith
Believe it! The mad monkey rides again!

    Alrighty, discuss.

Unfortunately for you, as my opinion holds greater weight than any of yours combined, we determine that it is fairly not really bad nor good, but somewhat halfway through successful.

Well, CIMARRON would be excellent news, if it's true, but I don't think Varese has done any MGM titles (have they??), so I'm a bit dubious of that one . . .

I've heard the track on Silvestri's "Selected Themes" promo and all I can say is "yawn". No, make that "yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn". I hope that this is an April Fools' joke.

for the record, anyone who would say that the batches of Varese CDs that have included Marie Ward, Joe Versus the Volcano, The Sand Pebbles, and The Fury needs to actually LISTEN to them.

I will however, concede that that last batch of CDs sucked big time.

Very interesting artwork, and I would have been fooled if:
  • Bob Townson was listed as executive producer
  • "The Deluxe Edition" didn't appear on the spine

You must not think very highly of Gremlins 2, then. I'd love an expanded Link - it's a fun score! Those drum loops Jerry uses are great... and the theme. The theme! Come on now. Fun times!

  • Heh heh ... yeah, I didn't originally design it as a CD Club release. That required some last-minute touch-ups. If you lighten the resolution, you can see what a crappy airbrush job I did moving things around.

Now Ryan, for the last damned time, let me state my trading practices. They are as follows:

I do not trade knowingly for mp3s,
I do not trade for IN-PRINT titles (dick wad)
I DO trade for OUT OF PRINT titles and unreleased or expanded stuff.

That's about it. Okay Ryan, I have stated before that I don't trade In-print stuff, but appearently you suffer from all kinds of memory lose.

Usually when I single someone out it is Ford, but boy are you making that list.

Nice. Very nice. But the spine font isn't quite right and there should be the copyright small print along the bottom somewhere...

Anyways, I've heard that the club discs are

    BAD GIRLS: DELUXE EDITION (Goldsmith)
SILVER BULLET / CAT'S EYE (Chattaway / Silvestri - original Varese LP programs)
BEVERLY HILLS COP 1/2/3 (Faltermeyer / Rodgers; 2-CD score collection)
TREVOR RABIN: SUITES AND THEMES (including 22 minutes of JACK FROST)

    NP: THE SWARM (Jerry Goldsmith)

Alan Silvestri's CATS EYE is one of the most bizarre horror scores I've heard. There's that heroic fanfare on synths everytime we see the cat strolling down the street or when it does something... Er, heroic, like rescuing Drew Barrymore from that miniscule troll. What was he thinking?!
