Just got back from the Best Buy coming soon section of their Soundtracks and shows listing- the very last entry is Maverick Records' release of The Matrix Reloaded on 4/29/03 - price was atrocious, but closer to time, it should drop. This, more than liekly, is the songs album with no score on it. Wouldn't it be wonderful if I was wrong?

Yeah, it sounds like a songtrack to me. I'm sure somebody (Varese) will pick up the score. If not, Intrada can give us a "Special Collection" release for $199.99 in 2023.

AFAIK, Maverick has the first right of refusal for a score release. So, until something is officially announced, we'll just have to wait and see if they decide to go with it or not.Dan

I know I can always count on you, Dan. I was still stuck on AFAIK up until ten seconds ago. Yes, I R Eddiecated!
I actually would like to see ONE cd for all this, it'd be a bit of a long one, but songs and score on one disc would be a novel approach. I think the last one I bought like that was True Lies.
I still think my idea of releasing all the scores (Expanded The Matrix, Animatrix, Reloaded, Revolutions) should be released in a box set timed with the release of The Matrix Revolutions. But then, I'm not in charge.
By the way, if you haven't seen "Program", the latest Animatrix installment, it is worth the download. Beautifully animated. No question.

Hm... that comment about Intrada is a little unfair, don't you think?

I did a check at Amazon, the title listing there reads as "Matrix Reloaded: The Album". Anytime they read like that, I'm betting it's a song album only, but one can hold out hope. Got a feeling Varese will release the score- but like Dan said, until an official announement is made, expect the unexpected, I guess.

No question.Yup - but not as cool as FINAL FLIGHT OF THE OSIRIS, which I thought was just kickin'. (And as it features Don's only orchestral Animatrix score, it's even better!)

I think I need to point out that "Final Flight" was created by the CG masters at SquareSoft

Dan,I saw a clip of Osiris at countingdown.com yesterday- it looked AMAZING, but what you said puzzles me- I distinctly heard new music from Don Davis in the other Animatrix parts so far- Program is entirely score driven, unless I'm hearing old music again, in which case, not being able to tell the difference is a sad affair.

And as to the box set idea - man, we just pull those re-use fees out of Joel Silver's butt, that's where most of his spin comes from, anyway. Maybe he should back some it up now by pandering to the drooling score music fan. I wouldn't mind

OKay, the release dates been moved to the 6th of May, and cover art is available with pre-order information at both Best Buy & Amazon.comAt Amazon, they are listing it as a 2-disc set and the label is Warner Bros. No confirmation exists for that fact, so I suggest taking it with a grain of salt. As Dan says, until you see an official press release, don't believe anything. Even then, one cannot be sure until the release itself.
Meantime, anybody know which label's got the X 2 score?

If it does happen, though, people are going to be pretty happy with the amount of music on the album...

Wait, I'm getting confused. Are you guys getting excited about a song album? Is this a score release?posted 03-27-2003 05:40 PM PT (US)
