Jeron, I just think it's important that you admit you lied on this board. The issue of the file is not what's so important, but that you lied. You seem to be skirting the issue here, that you did in fact take my photo and alter it, then when I called you on it, you said, in this very thread, that it was in fact not my file.
It's obvious to anyone with fifteen seconds of time to spare to look that you simply enlarged and cloned out the spots on the photo. If you're going to lie and say you didn't use my photo, you could at least exhibit competent Photoshop skills to back it up.
It's great that you're busy and working hard, but a simple clarification would take all of thirty seconds. I find it amusing that you took the time to blast me on this thread for accusing you, when it fact, I was right.

I noticed on the Danny Elfman site that someone forgot to notice the small fact that Quincy Jones was in the photo too!! Just thought I'd mention it.Gae

Pot... kettle... black.Geez Ryan. You tell Jeron to admit he's lying, when it is you who are still lying.
It's NOT YOUR DAMN FRIGGING PICTURE!!!!!!! You stole it just as much as someone else who has it on their computer.
Your a f*cking hypocrite. Bastard.
And not even a magnificent one - like Rutherford.

I'm not lying. I've said from the very beginning that it's my file. If you have problems reading, perhaps you should take the words a little slower.

No, I didn't "steal" it. I scanned it in from the magazine, and if you view it on my website, it's clearly marked as being from Vanity Fair.
Your a f*cking hypocrite. Bastard.
Classy. Helps to make your point even more worthless.
[Message edited by Kevin on 03-16-2003]
Your message could have used a bit more editing. On your second attempt, maybe you should have considered that you have no point and just deleted the entire post.
The fact remains that Jeron lied on this board. Flat out lied. He swooped in like he was the hero, and he lied and he hasn't the guts to admit it.

Secondly, that's a fresh scan from the magazine I picked up a few years back.Alright Ryan, here ya go. Enough of this sh*t. I didn't scan it, I took it from your site. I do own the magazine, so regardless of who's scan it is, your scan's just as good as mine. Making a desktop for Philipp, while something I wanted to do, was not such an important task that I needed to dig through boxes to find my own copy. You and I own the same magazine. You and I have the same rights when it comes to what we do with it personally. The images from my magazine and your magazine are interchangeable. Therefore, why should I put forth any extra effort scanning when you've done the work already?
Now that I've made my admission of guilt - such a huge issue, apparently - where in the heck has it gotten anybody? Does it make you feel any more justified in giving Philipp, or anyone else an unnecessarily hard time for an innocent request that doesn't affect you in any way? Does it make you feel any more justified for claiming ownership of a chunk of 1's and 0's that are identical to whatever I could produce, if I chose to do so?
Sorry for fibbing, if you're gonna get your panties in such a wad about that, damn, get a clue man. You've missed the point.
If you would like, Ryan, I can split my earnings with you. Or heck, I'll just forward the check to your address.
Oh, wait...

All of you please gather the collection monies from today's service and send it to me, The Pope, for wasting precious hard disc space and bandwidth with such horseshit. I see there is much converting left to do.Thanks Ford! Me being the "pope" and this board being my church and all really works.

This is the official end of the thread, hopefully. People, go bang your head on a pole for a while.

You know what, amidst all the childish insults being thrown around here the actual argument of what is and isn't copyrighted material on the Net is a really confusing one isn't it? I mean, we all share this thing called "CYBERSPACE" because its "out there" and yet its also "in here" on our personal computers. Surely, anything that you can see or access on the net without having to pay for it is almost like in the "Public Domain" for use by anyone for their own personal use and enjoyment so long as they dont redistibute it on other sites? If not, then the Net is the most oddest, most confusing and legally ambiguous phenomena ever in the history of mankind....which it probably is anyway!!

It's basically a misunderstanding of what "copyright" means. No, Ryan isn't allowed to publish that picture on his site without the owner's (i.e. the magazine's) permission. Yes, Philipp is allowed to download an image from a website, alter it and use it as his desktop image, even if he doesn't have the copyright for it, as long as he isn't passing it on to anyone else.

That might be illegal.
Though I'm not sure how far "private use" can be stretched, and whether it applies to modifying an image for someone else.

Being sensible persons, I'm sure we can agree that it's perfectly legal, as long as the person modifying the image for someone else deletes it from his/her hard drive after "delivery" of said image.Man, it took something this stupid to bring me out of board-silence.

Let this thread prove why message boards need to be moderated. No, I don't mean things need to be censored. Yes, I mean things need to be a little more under control. There is a difference. I had hoped this thread would have disappeared on its own, but apparently we are more interested in this kinda crap than the latest movies and soundtracks. If you guys haven't noticed, more and more movie soundtracks are being released these days than ever before. It boggles the mind how some can be sidetracked and reduced into friggin' mudslinging when so much product is out there for us to be discussing. And to think this "discourse" above is about something no one even bought, and offense taken over property that is none of ours. The crapfest here is closed. Next time it won't last 1/3 as long. I will hope everyone involved above will re-think what is and what is not truly important in the grand scheme of things.
Let's get back to the music, shall we?
