I read that they'd be using The Scorpion King as a template. So I think anyone involved on this project, should just run like hell!

I don't think Christopher Stone could score the film... He passed away this year, or last.

Dinko, I can't picture other composer.

Poledouris has done extraordinary compositions. I still think he is the man!

maybe it should be Poledouris because he only wrote one of the best film scores of all-time for the first Conan movie.

Because they're both capable of epic, thematic, memorable, grade-A huge orchestral music.

I'd still go with Poledouris, however.

Poledouris' score for Conan the Barbarian is one of my all-time favorite film scores.

If Conan the Destroyer was a little dry (and a bit over-reliant upon music from the first film), I'm not sure that was his fault; either way, Poledouris' scores for The Hunt for Red October, Flight of the Intruder and Starship Troopers show that he certainly has a command of the adventure genre.

I would love to hear more Conan music from him.

Farewell to the King is one more masterwork on Poledouris career; we cannot forget it!

In fact Conan The Destroyer is a bad movie but I'm pretty satisfied with Poledouris' composition. Some themes sound like western however his whole work is coherent and self sufficient.

We must admit that Varese produced just another disappointing 30-minutes CD release with fraudulent remixed tracks. Conan Destroyer still deserves a serious and complete CD.

The 30 minute CD of Conan the Destroyer is a direct re-release of the LP. All of the nonsense (including the "Main Title" that has a piece of "Conan Vs. Bombatta" pasted into the middle where the actual main title should be) came from the original album, which was released by MCA Records, not Varese. It's not their fault.

When Varese brought out the two Conan albums, they added 23 minutes of music to the album for the first film. I can't complain about that move. If they didn't expand the second one (which would, I agree, have been appreciated), that's too bad, but Varese's re-release of Conan the Barbarian is one of my Desert Island Discs*.

An expanded re-release of Conan the Destroyer would be a problematic issue. Many of the cues are re-recordings from the original film with a smaller orchestra and no choir.

"The Wheel of Pain," for example, is used in Destroyer when Schwarzenegger and Chamberlain are trying to open a door (does that bother anyone else, or am I the only one who thinks that this is a trivialization of the wonderfully scored cue from the first film?). The album actually has several cues that are re-recordings of the original. "Approach to Shadizaar" is a new version of "Mountain of Power Procession" and "The Katta" is a re-recording of "The Discipline of Steel" (which remains unreleased).

On the other hand, the main title would be most welcome, as well as some of the other material from the last half of the film.

I've always thought that "Valeria Remembered" is a fantastic version of "Funeral Pyre," similar enough to evoke directly the scene from the first film, but different enough to justify itself as its own cue.

    * Hmmm... doesn't it seem, every time you make a Desert Island list, that you're sort of taunting the fates to actually put you on a desert island with only ten CDs and 10 movies?

Well, according to DarkHorizons, it looks like the wrestler "Triple H" might be standing in for Arnie. No idea who he is, so I can't say how good that it. But pleasingly, it also notes that:

So, when Richard Stone died, did society pass another Stone?

    -Drumroll-

I say Basil. If he is not availiable, here is a short list of people I think could:

    Christopher Young
    Shirley Walker
James L. Venable (Based on is scores for Samurai Jack.)
    Possibly Christophe Beck.
