This is just an idea I had last night while failing miserably to fall asleep...

I often refer to Fishchip's great 'Newreleases' section to keep abreast of what's being released, but with all the song albums, re-recordings and remasterings out there, (not to mention certain crappy scores) it's often hard to keep track of which memorable scores have been added to our collections or wishlists during the year.

So I thought we could have a thread where, as the year progresses, we simply post those scores we consider to be 'great new releases' which everyone should look into. Opinions may vary, but most of the time a good score stands out.

Hopefully by December we'll have a lengthy list (not discussion - list) of scores which people can look back to when seeing what essential CDs they missed out on during 2003.

From what I've heard so far, the only great new material 2003 has given us is Gods and Generals, so I'll start with that. I admit to not having heard the 25th Hour, which many claim to be quite impressive.

    Hope this works...

Hmm. Sorry Jeron, that's a 2002 score. Unless you're just counting that you GOT it in 2003.......

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is the great score of 2003.

(I hope Goldsmith does indeed give us something great for Timeline)
