I picked up Diamonds are Forever, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Live and Let Die last night at Tower Records. I must say, it truly is a heavenly experience listening to these! They sound incredible!! Thank you so much to all those involved! I wrote a review of DAF with a track by track analysis for commanderbond.net today. Those of you that want to know what each track contains specifically, check it out, it'll definately make you more excited! Here's the addy: http://www.commanderbond.net/Public/Stories/1877-1.shtmlRich

That's great to hear. I'll have copies of On Her Majesty's Secret Service and From Russia With Love arriving to my mailbox quickly (thanks Peter!)Doesn't it seem kinda cheap to lump a bunch of cues into an "Additional and Alternate Cues" track on Diamonds are Forever? I guess since it's $12, I can forgive them.
I've got my fingers crossed that there is some sort of improvement of sound quality with the remastered but unexpanded From Russia With Love. If not, it will be disappointing but no great loss. I've been wanting this music for a while now in some form other than Silva's re-recording.

I think all the Bond score fans are over at FSM.com! There's been no excited responses here, but their board is all lit up... anywho, still reveling in these releases.

Ya know, I'm really pumped for these releases guys, I just don't have time to sit down and drool over them. I think that's probably the case with a lot of people here. So just because we aren't hyping them up, doesn't mean we aren't equally as excited. If you came into my home, you'd instantly realize how big of a James Bond fan I really am. I don't have much of an income at the moment, so the idea of spending whatever I'd have to in order to acquire all of these great, new discs... is a little daunting and something I'd rather just not think about.I'm 21 years old, a majority of the people here are on average quite a bit younger than the guys over at FSM. So I would imagine my feelings are shared by many people on this board.
Take it into consideration.

OK, my From Russia with Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service discs have arrived. I don't own the original CD releases, so I can't compare, but...OHMSS sounds very good. I just can't believe some of the tracks that were left off of the original disc, like "Escape from Piz Gloria." I still think sequencing all of the "bonus tracks" at the end of the disc is a poor choice.
From Russia With Love sounds alright. This is one where the original masters couldn't be found, so the LP master tapes were used. There is a bit of hiss evident, but I'd rather have some hiss over noise reduction. There are some sound issues with specific tracks, especially "007 Takes the Lektor." This isn't anything the producers of this disc could fix, the percussion section was just recorded very poorly.
The music is fantastic. I highly recommend both.

From Russia With Love definitely sounds better than the previous CD release. I'm very much looking forward to the rest of these re-issues.

I was surprised to see the remastered version cost so little. Only 11 bucks per CD. I picked up OHMSS and Living Daylight and that pretty much completes my 2cd collection of Barry's Bond music. I didn't like any of the other score from Barry. The new version of OHMSS has more cues with the love themes and that's a definite plus. I've been looking for The Living Daylight RYKO expanded on ebay for cheap, but this CD is way better than what I would have gotten used. I hate the foldout liner notes. Them packaging designers must have had some massive brainfarts when they worked on this. but the Jeff Bond (no relation) notes on OHMSS was very informative.I was sad to find out that Kamen's License to Kill didn't get an expanded/remastered release. Anyone knows why?
PS. What was name of the Bond movie that Bill Conti scored? You know the one where Bond went funk and black...?

Those horrible "poster notes" were ported over from the previous Rykodisc release. It seems like EMI probably sent these releases through the pipes pretty quickly and maybe they didn't have time to create new packaging for the Rykodisc re-releases.Bill Conti scored For Your Eyes Only. I believe that Licence to Kill wasn't expanded or re-issued because EMI doesn't own the rights to it.
