Has this ever happened to you? In this week alone, I have bought:

    Jaws
    Superman
    Spy Game
    Back To The Future Trilogy
    Star Trek VI
    Tailor of Panama

And...just when I thought it was over I stumbled on to the Best of Godzilla CDs. Like the subject suggests, I cant stop! has this ever happened to you?

P.S. Are those Godzilla CDs good? I am a big fan of the movies and they have a good deal of music on them.

Nah, that's not enough CDs, try spending $200.00 to $300.00 in one day on CDs then you can brag.

As for the Godzilla CDs I take it they are the GNP releases? They basically cover the hi-lights of all the scores. It's probably the cheapest way to go. The Futureland releases of the original complete soundtracks are expensive and getting harder to come across. Don't forget to also look for Godzilla v.s. Megaguiris on the GNP label as well but stay away from Godzilla 2000, it's an awful score. The last 2 Godzilla films didn't see a release by GNP but they are available on their Japanese labels.

    300!?!? Forget I said anything

I am trying to get the Godzilla Vs. Biollante, Vs. Mechagodzilla II, and Vs. Destroyah soundtracks from the Future label...but they're very expensive. Is the Megaguiris soundtrack worth getting too? Or is it a wrong step in a new direction? Hopefully, the GNP CDs can hold me over for however long I look and get the funds for those originals

Mark, you spent that much in one day? How much longer was it before you threw down that much cash for CD's again. You cheated if you saved money to splurge one day on CD's

I should add my recommendation for GODZILLA VS. MEGAGUIRUS, a great album from GNP.

That's why my credit card balance is so high.

Actually I used to take my tax return and spend it on CDs when I was catching up on my collection. I haven't spent that much in about 5 years.

If you are looking for older releases there is one guy I've dealt with in the past with great results who at this moment has quite a few auctions going on e-bay for some of those CDs. They are new and not used unless stated.

Luckily I was able to grab most of the Futureland Cds when they first came out.

The GNP covers the main portions so the scores so they should hold you over until then.

As stated above grab the G v.s. Megaguiris CD. It is well worth it. In fact the same composer returns for the latest G film released in 2002; Godzilla v.s. Mecha-godzilla. The last 2 films have their soundtracks available as imports only and if you are interested this is one of the better places to order them from:
    http://www.godzillashop.com/

They are a little higher in price but worth it. Godzilla GMK is a little different from most of the scores as it it mostly done with electronics with the orchetra blended in. might not be for everyone though.

I was able to find sites that have the Biollante CD and the 2CD edition of Destroyah After hearing some samples of Megaguirus...I'll try to get that too. My concern with Biollante is that its just the disco nightmare stuff and not enough of the awesome Ifukube re-orchestrations.

Actually there are a 3 Ifukube cues that are taken from a CD of re-recordings that I have (by Ifukube himself), the rest are original compositions by Koichi Sugiyama. Sadly there is a disco version of Ifukube's music that does sound like crap. One of the problems that Biollante score is lacking is in the orchestrations.

Which cues are they? If its the one where Godzilla escapes from the Mihara crater and the main title sequence (the slow menacing theme), then I may have to buy it because the Super X 2 theme is one I kind of enjoy. Are any of the Ifukube cues from Biollante (or identically sounding ones) on the GNP release? If so, I'll just pick up Destroyah then

The themes are the March from Monster Zero, the cue you mentioned(Main title from Gojira 1954) and the regular Godzilla theme(Godzilla's Appearance as it is sometimes called). If memory serves me right each cue appears once in the film. the cues are taken form a CD called Ostinato which is a re-recording supervised by Ifukube. They all appear on the GNP cd in their original forms but all tracks on the Vol I are in mono.

I once imported a HUGE amount of Morricone CD's via a shop and it cost me 4050 danish kroner, which is just over $500. I know it; I should seek help.

Well when the Godzilla series was first released in 1994 I spent close to that amount.
