Hey everyone. Over at Cinemusic, in the Vitamin 'C'inemusic section, two clips from the score of GODS AND GENERALS by John Frizzell and Randy Edelman. The music is fully orchestral with chorus, and on a first listen, it certainly sounds better (because of the orchestra and chorus) than GETTYSBURG. Head on over to www.cinemusic.net to check it out!

I wonder if it's truely a collaboration between the two co-composers or that the sound I've heard Edelman manifested in xXx wasn't a fluke.

According to Soundtrack Magazine... Edelman and Frizzel wrote the themes for the film and Frizzel wrote the rest of the score.

WOOOOOW!!! I truely can't wait until it comes out on disc (as well as in the movie). I don't care for Bob Dylan's song since I can't stand his voice, but Mary Fahl's song "Going Home," is great. If you haven't heard it yet, I strongly recommend that you find it (it's been up on the net since Jan. 17th). Thanks, Mike, for the heads up!

If anything, G&G sounds like Frizzell's orchestrations -- particularly his bombastic THIRTEEN GHOSTS and GHOST SHIP.

This is a composer who's turning it around.

Not bad- I like it, but I hope it still has some of that Gettysburg sound in it- that was a great score.

I always thought he had Brad Dechter and 15 other goons doing that for him, along with Newton Howard, Golsdmith or Edelman to provide the theme, and some chap or other to conduct.

Someone's not a fan, I see. Actually, Frizzell doesn't orchestrate; what Ryan meant to say is that it sounds like the orchestrations in Frizzell's scores. AFAIK, it's just Andrew Kinney and Frank Bennett. This music sounds terrific.

BTW, nice way to spell Goldsmith; 'd' after 's' except on a weekday.

There are clips from each track on the official site. Sounds like great stuff! Although I'm a little upset that there was no sign of Edelman's themes from Gettysburg Oh well. Only ten more days til i get the CD!!!

Well, as I predicted, it seems to be a great score. (Yes Dan, Mr. Devil’s advocate )
It’s wonderful this one was performed by a real orchestra.
