    Viva la revolution!
    http://www.moviemusic.com/CD/revolutionfrancaise.html

Correct me if I am wrong, but Intrada just sold a used copy of the old Polydor edition for $400 (and I think that was only one CD of the two CD set!). Woops, because here it comes in March for a fraction of that kind of money!

Disques Cinemusique continues rolling out great re-issues, despite the very unprofessional "professionals" who attempt to slander Disques Cinemusique's product as bootlegs. It's such a shame certain individuals in the soundtrack business are such hooligans they can't appreciate someone else releasing a CD. Shame.

Who's excited about more great Delerue music? Woohooo!! Only limited to 550 copies though (which is actually very realistic).

A remastered version with improved graphics will be very welcome ! The original Polydor set has very dry flat sound and there are absolutely NO liner notes for this terrific score.....bring on the new one !!

Will be looking forward to it!

Recently I saw 2 new sealed copies of Chouans in the 'completed items' of that big auction site which had sold via Buy It Now for $24.99 each. I stared in disbelief and wonder, and with a touch of envy.

Can someone who is familiar with the score comment on what it's like? I'm familiar with much/most of Delerue's music, so if there is a potential comparison to other works of his, that would give me an idea of where this one fits in.

I bought Scott's 'MountBatten' last year knowing absolutely nothing about it. The result was that it received the most play of anything in my collection for awhile. But, that not always the case with unknown score purchases.

This is Georges Delerue at his "seemingly-always" best. Very classical in sound (to reflect the time of the incident?), with chorus. There's an operatic song included ("The Hymn of Liberty"), which you may or may not like... fortunately, there's another track featuring the music of this song, sans vocaliste. Everyone raves about "La Declaration des Droits de l'Homme," which I will agree with.

This is big orchestral stuff, pure Delerue. There's no reason anyone who likes orchestral Delerue would not want this.

If memory serves me correctly, the Norman song was featured in the French-version end credits. I saw the English version on CTV a few years ago and I think just the stirring
orchestral version was used. Makes sense, since she sings the song in French. My favorite track is the overwhelmingly melancholic " Fin de la royaute " -- this never fails to emotionally devestate me, probably the only film-music composer who could consistently break this otherwise stone heart !

    PeterK & shureman,

Thanks! Truly sounds like a 'must have' for me. "Big orchestral" and "overwhelmingly melancholic" are right up my alley with Delerue. Over the holidays I revisited my Delerue collection for several days. It's nice when one can play a CD they haven't listened to for awhile and say "Wow, that's really good!".

Regarding melancholic, my wife likes Delerue a lot, but "The Lonely Passion Of Judith Hearns" is a bit toooo lonely. As for me, I totally love it.

Gee, this title seems to have sold out within minutes of its, ahem, 'release'. Here's the status at DISQUES CINEMUSIQUE
= "ÉPUISÉ - SOLD OUT" (Wanted to buy it here, but no dice... so I checked the source).

I guess I can clean up my drool and look forward to the day when they press more than 550 copies for the citizens of planet Earth.

Thanks for the notice... at least it was a heads up for a chance at the lottery.

Fine people, these are in stock, but I dare say for how long. The border patrol gave up and let the Revolution through to America.

At the rate these are leaving the store, perhaps by Monday the MM store will be just another place with the "ÉPUISÉ" sign hanging in the window for this one.

The quality is absolutely fantastic. I sorta wish the original artwork remained for this re-issue, but no worries, thanks to the fantastic remastering. Wowee, it sounds great.

Jeff, you must unravel a bit and let loose on some fanboys in rabid fashion for, ohh, 5 or 6 years "here on the internet." Then you might be nominated for the Hooligan Hall of Fame. You can start by calling this latest Disques Cinemusique 2CD set a bootleg.

Same here. Mine arrived today! Unbelievable. Thanks for the fast shipping & the opportunity to get it, PK. Seems like they're all gone now......

.......except for those copies that will OF COURSE turn up on eBay with a reserve price of $100, thereby ensuring that someone who might've had this music at a decent price is going to have to pay through the nose to some ******* speculator, who has nothing whatsoever to do with the greatness contained in the CD, yet profits simply from knowing when and where it would be released. I know, I know, capitalism & free enterprise & business is what makes America so great blah blah blah.

Pathetic that in this niche hobby, when we should be celebrating the music & trying to "spread the word" to get the music into the hands of as many folks as possible, that so many see absolutely nothing wrong with buying up multiple copies of limited releases in order to profit from other folks' lack of information or opportunity.

But thanks again, man. Great shtuff.

I like this Delerue score quite a lot. Haven't had a chance to listen to the entire 2 discs, but what I've heard so far is rich, epic, and varied. There's a special place in my heart for Georges Delerue and the music he gave us. I'll add some comments when I can find the right words.

    Cheers,

...and I thought 550 copies would be realistic. Sheesh. Would the French spit a loogie on John Williams' score for "The American Revolution" (wait, wasn't this called The Patriot?) or would they buy it up as fast as we've bought up Delerue's "The French Revolution"? I guess we like the French a little more than the French like us at this point.

Glad you guys got this, and happy my dictatorFishChip-style message board ruling scares the hell outta the post office employees and gets them to deliver these things pronto. They've heard about this place, and that insane iron fist.

Before now, I couldn't say this store has ever sold out of anything within 24 hours. Congratulations to Clement and Disques Cinemusique.... next time get back to the normal 1,000 copies!

    from the Disques Cinemusique chaps:

To all the people who are still seeking a copy of our two CD release LA REVOLUTION FRANÇAISE by Georges
    Delerue:

All the specialized dealers in the world are most probably already short of this item, just like us, because the
demand was much higher than expected. However many copies are in the care of our distributor for music stores in
Canada. The most important of these chains have a bilingual web site with credit card facilities and delivery to
foreign countries - so you should be able to buy online from them a copy of REVOLUTION.

The official release of this CD in Canada is on April 1st but reservations are accepted right now at www.Archambault.ca

Also check in a few days at www.hmv.com
    and www.renaud-bray.com
    Prices may be competitive.

We didn't get an exclusive worlwide license for REVOLUTION. This means this soundtrack could be reissued in a
few months, on a larger scale, most likely in Europe
. Our first goal was to give a second life to this forgotten
important score. This being said, you can be sure we will print more of our next Delerue titles. Of course we will
    keep you posted.

Every once in awhile I buy a film score which I enjoy so much that I play it every day. "The French Revolution" has been that way.

This is easily one of my favorite Delerue scores, and having it as a 2 disk set allows for a full and total immersion into the dramatic unfolding of events.

What a wonderful surprise from music I hadn't heard a note of before purchase, yet bought on faith due to the composer.

Sometime soon I will need to give my wife a break from this dramatic music... but not quite yet!

Very exciting news about Chouans. Another great Delerue score. As I recall, there was some kind of mastering problem with the first release of Chouans, a track duplicated or some such. I'm sure this will be corrected for the new release.
