January 31 Final Destination 2 opens up. Man, i can't wait to see it. The first was a fantasticly dark action thriller.
But what has me jumpy the most is Shirley Walker's score. I can't wait to hear it.Now the first score was a promo and the entire score was isolated on DVD. Shame it got no official release. It deserved it.
Anybody else excited as me. I am more excited to see this than that terrible Star Trek movie a month ago and i am a Star Trek fan!

Trailer for FD2 was interesting. Of all the dumb teen slasher movies, Final Destination was among the better ones.
Though I liked Shirley Walker's score within the movie, I can't say that I would have spent money on it, even if it were available on CD.I'll probably catch FD2 a couple of weeks after it comes out. When it moves to the regular theatres, the ones that are not cool and don't make you go deaf with their 150dB sound systems.

Add a year. I'm too lazy to update it.

I thought the first one turned out to be a great comedy. The trailer of the second one, with the garbage disposal... oh that makes me really wince.

I also can't wait for "Final Destination 2". I just loved the trailer (jonathan, are you sure you saw the whole trailer?). It looks to be this year's first must-see movie. I know that Shirley Walker will do a great job. I wasn't too crazy about her work on the first film (which I enjoyed); outside of the main titles, it just didn't stand out for me.It doesn't look like (in terms of regular releases) Varese is doing much for the next couple months, so maybe they can step in and put out the soundtrack. After all, they kinda missed the boat on the first one.

Yeah, I saw the whole trailer and a TV commercial, too. What about them?Gotta love those Freightliner Arogsy cabs... they've been great ever since Terminator 2.

I predict another movie where you hold your seat and breath as some complicated death scene is going. Sounds great.
Too bad for dranmatic purposes they killed off Alex sometime between this movie and the last. I was very dissapointed to hear that. He was the one who figured out death's design. Oh well. How could he get it? Was he really whacking off and fell of the bed onto a knife? Hummmmm.....I really enjoyed Walker's moody main title, suspenseful driving action music (best heard during Alex is fleeing from the teachers house) and the use of a voice breathing out abrupt breaths as to symbolize death himself.
I hope that's in the second score. Got to pester Ms. Walker now.posted 01-12-2003 03:00 PM PT (US)

A site that I promise WILL be updated. I have a lot of stuff going on with the sites, including a brand new design for the Marc Shaiman site, and two others in development. Perhaps I should get a life...

Did Marc really write a rejected score for What's The Worse That Could Happen?

Is there anything to update? Is the man getting any work? Will we ever see the complete South Park score? What Dan said. Yes, Marc is scoring CAT IN THE HAT, and he's also writing songs for the film. He's also scoring one other film, the name is totally escaping me.
The SOUTH PARK score remains unreleased. Probably due to AFM re-use fees... But, you can listen to clips at the site

And Jeron, my New Year's resolution is to tie up loose ends and finish my script which will catapult me into David Koepp territory!

Dan, jokes aren't the only thing lost apon you.I saw FD2 today.
It was good. Not as god as the first, but i can name NO movie sequel that was as good or toped the first. Well, maybe Indy 3.It was HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Stupid F*cking teenagers, that abvioulsy weren't old enough to see it, were talking, making unecessary noise and one even pulled out a cell phone. I allmost walked over there and grabbed that ***damn phone and slaped that bitch. Screw this s***. NExt time i will wait till the film closing days before i see it.
And why did *****SPOILERS*****
they have to kill Claire? Come on. It's bad enough Alex died and they wasy he died.
And some of the death scenes were a little obvious.
I felt there were 2 things missing:
1. The chilling "breath" of death that Shirley Walker included that let you know something was about to happen.
2. The black fuzzy shadow of death that appeared when he was there.....And since when does a little gas powered grill cause an explosion big enough to blow a kid apart? I was more laughing at that moment.
But i'll give the new director some credit and the writert. The movie did keep the element of suspense a number of times and the way they connected the groups close enocounters with death to Flight 180.
They missed an opritunity in the movie:
The elevator seen:
When it showed the number after killing the lady, it should have not said 1 with an arrow showing down, but a arrow up with the number of people left to imply they are next.Walker's score was good. There was one instance where i thought it was over the toop and didn't fit the scene, but that only lasted about 10 seconds.
But there were some cool moments in her score. She was born to score this series. I remember at the begining when the offer reached into his car and got the reciever to call dispatch that Walker's score was very tense and exciting.
Woah, talk about a car crash.I have had close calls with death.
I was turning from a lane into the highway. 2 lanes each side with grass in the middle. I had green and i pulled into the left lane, all of the sudden a hugh semi came barreling though, not even slowing down. If i had pulled into the right lane, i would not be here today.
And just the other day i was comming home early from work and i was dead tired. I fell asleep behind the wheel. I heard rock under my tires and that woke me up. I was going into the median and missed a sign.My cousin avoided death a few weeks ago. Her, her mother and her dauther were driving home. 70 in a 55 on a rainy day. The skidded . Allmost crashed.
I now i remember, back a few years i hydroplaned at 55 and fell 8 feet into some trees. If i had hydroplaned even 1 second earlier, the tree that smashed my driver's side back end would have smashed me. Intersting story to go with it, but i'll spare everyone.
Anyone else allmost done in?

Justin, reading your post, makes me feel like I cheated death!NExt time i will wait till the film closing days before i see it. And why did *****SPOILERS*****
First off, people who want to see a movie with a good crowd go to see the film on opening night. Everyone in the theater is guaranteed to be there for that movie, not because their parents dropped them off at AMC so Mom and Dad could go off and get juiced with the neighbors.
Second, FINAL DESTINATION 2 is rated "R", meaning no one under 17 is permitted inside the theater (the rating varies, here in Canada it's "AA", which means no one under 14 without a parent). So if these "teenagers" were so distracting, you should have alerted the theater staff. Yeah, sometimes YOU have to let THEM know there's a problem.
And since when does a little gas powered grill cause an explosion big enough to blow a kid apart? I was more laughing at that moment.
That was the point. To laugh.

Ah, you feel cheated. Come a little closer, i'll make sure.YOU do not know the situation. They wanted my seat, if i had gotten up and the management had no way to help me, i would be out 6:50 and my night.
Opening night is too full and bought out. I don't want to struggle through crowds and have to goo way early to get a ticket.

Thats interesting.
You guys say you see films on its opening night.
But few films open at night (thursday or friday?), its usually Friday morning here.Anyway from the parts I've seen, the movie is really stupid. Too sci-fi for my taste. But I do admire how the tension was constant. Every scene had you thinking that someone is about to get whacked! And it happens or it doesn't.
Shirley Walkers score is completly unmemorable, it did its job in the film, but I'd never buy it.
I have a question for you all.
After being entertained by such gory images. How would you react if the person next to you was suddenly decapated?, lets say by a peice of metal that fell of a passing truck?
"dude! you alright?!"

So you've only seen "parts"? How can you accurately critique FINAL DESTINATION 2 if you haven't viewed the entire film?
How would you react if the person next to you was suddenly decapated?(sic)
How about if it was someone from this message board???

Maybe the person you asked out on a date couldn't understand what the hell you were saying, so they politely declined???

Either that or your first-grade English skills, coupled with your complete lack of a sense of humor, make you appear as if you are.
