I was just on IMDB and they have no listing for the composer. Does anybody know anything? I think Goldsmith, Shore or Elfman would do good, how bout you guys?

Sounds like a job for Randy Newman.

    It's Ed Zwick.

Sounds like a job for Horner.

It was confirmed by Zimmer that he will be working on the project, as it was reported in an on-line interview with Apple.com. He likened it to "Gladiator in Japan." I tend to think "Black Rain 2."

You'll notice that Hans Zimmer gives the Japanese, in both "Black Rain" and "Pearl Harbour", almost identical themes, with very different orchestrations.

I don't hear any similarity between the actual theme itself...
His Asian themes are either pretty and atmospheric or it is dubious in referencing any particular ethnic region.

I think he meant to talk about it in term of the overall feel of it, ie, Epic in scope. Not the story.

I'm personally hoping for a reunion of Zwick and Horner on this one. They complement each other extremly well. GLORY and LEGENDS OF THE FALL are examples of Audio(music)/Visual Magic. Best. piero 2

Glory certainly was good. Zwick certainly musters out great scores (at least with Horner) let's hope he does the same with Zimmer.

My vote is for Hisashi (Mononoke) but my guess is that it is going to be Horner.

If you were gonna nominate Japanese composer, Shigeaki Saegusa would work WELL. Or maybe Koh Otani, but then Hans would kick ass. Unless he go toward the PH-ominous-low-string-with-percussions route. Then it'll be blah and Horner like. Me won't likey.
