Goody....I can finally get Death & The Maiden, without having to shell out for the full album and get another recording of the Schubert again....

It will be interesting to hear Dracula played on Kilar's home turf, as oppposed to the LA recording.

But isn't the LA recording the "original" film recording? So... just cause it's recorded in his home country doesn't mean it will be a better recording. It might just seem like, well, a re-recording.

Exactly, the LA recording - film recording under Anton Coppola will sound(I guess)somewhat different than the Polish/Wit recording....guess ya have to be into the whole 'compare one recording to another' game, eh Dinko?

    Ya got it Seanster.

It's not about which is better or original, Dan!, it's about how the Polish homies will play it.
Ruskie classical music played by Ruskies is often different, from when it is played by Germans, which is different from when it is played by Brits, which is different from when it is played by Americans.
Given how film music is ever more present in the classical repertoire, it's only natural to extend to film music the 'different interpretations approach' so often raised in classical music.

    Ding ding ding!

I wonder if we'll see the day when there are, say 18 recordings of The Magnificent Seven by Bernstein, or (this is a stretch) 12 different Christus Apollos by Goldsmith. Not that we need all that, but I still get a kick out of comparing....

And our Pole pals do interpret things quite differently, at least from what I've heard, mostly from Naxos discs. Wanna have some real fun, check out the difference between the London Symphony and various Polish orchestras performing Penderecki
    Pretty twisted idea of fun

Different, certainly. Good? Not at all.

Leave the Czechs out of this. There is no interest when a new Prague recording is announced. But a recording by the Poles of a Polish movie/music composer? Ya, bring it on!

I am not Polish, but my non-Polish guess would be that it is probably something like this:

    'Ja' = Ya
'potrzebuje' = pot(r)jebuye in which pot(r)jebuye the "r" is only slightly hinted at during the trasition from 't' to 'j', and this 'j' would be pronounced like a mix between 'z' and 'j'.

Just a guess. As even Poles would have a hard time learning how to pronounce their own language.

I'm sure many know this, but I just want to point out for those that don't -- there are numerous Kilar film music compilations out there, and they are stunning. You have to look for them, but they are out there.

I think Screen Archives has one right now called "The Best," or something to that effect.

Why bother to do a re-recording of Kilar's dull DRACULA and NOT include THE ONLY GOOD MUSIC FROM THE MOVIE, the furious climax "pursuit" ?!!?!!

These re-recording producers should be impaled.

Yes it is a shame 'pursuit' isn't there, but Kilar's Dracula 'dull'? I couldn't disagree more!
