I'm not sure what to make of this. It's called "Rise of the Machines" but that's not what I see in the trailer. T2 was very prophetic about the takeover by the machines and Skynet and all that but this just looks like... I dunno what it looks like.

How can you tell how a movie is going to be in under 2 minutes? Granted it probably won't blow away T2, but it does have it's potential moments. I make no assumptions. Hell, I liked the movie and score to Blade II better than the first one so no one will listen to me here

Oh dear God...What are Arnold and Stahl doing here? Seems like Dolph Lundgren and the kid who played Bud Bundy would be a better fit; this looks like total straight-to-video-B-movie-trash.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Can't say I'm holding my breath...

This looks like MAJOR ca-ca here, folks. The patient is D.O.A. Lousy graphics, too.

Justin--I'm not passing judgement on the film yet...but the trailer has me terribly worried. As for BladeII...I'm with you. I like both the movie and score better.

Well...it was attached to The Two Towers, and I will admit that it plays better on the big screen. The crowd seemed very responsive to it.I have no doubt that it will pale in comparison to T2, but hopefully it won't stink on ice.

I posit that you could put any wretched piece of crap trailer in front of LOTR:TTT and get an audience to be "excited" during the opening weekend because their excitement for LOTR is spilling over into everything around it. Heck, they probably were giddy when the godawful "Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmakers" short film started....

The crowd at the Cinerama Dome in LA on Wednesday was VERY responsive...They groaned and then booed.

The crowd I saw the film with responded to it the way I did... that the film looks like it has a direct-to-video story with better production values.Oy.

LOL! Right on the nose Dan. I hate those damn commercials. Commercials before the movie!!!!! If it wasn't bad enough that we have to listen to like 10 trailers, more than half of which are god awful, at a loud loud setting that burst your eardrums, now we have commercials. Do i have to bring my ear plugs and blindfold to the theater now? Man alive!
Anyone want to start taking bets as to exactly HOW BAD this movie will be? Poor Beltrami going down with a quickly sinking ship. The Terminator was a good couple of movies. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if Arnold's character died the way he did in T2 and another movie was never made?posted 12-20-2002 02:49 PM PT (US)

Many folks clapped...but heh...I'm not really changing my position--this movie does not look so good.

It depends what kinda crowd you see it with. In front of TTT at the midnight show in Santa Monica with the hipster crowd the trailer was heckled and booed, and the line, "she'll be back", received fullsome jeers. At the Bridge de lux in Culver City however, with a very different demographic, Arnold got huge cheers.

SPQR,I'm not familiar with the Bridge de lux... did the attendents there arrive on a little yellow bus?

Actually, my favorite part of the movie theaters is the 30 second "exit location" footage. Gotta love that scratched up dirty looking film from 1958 with a barely understandable optical audio track.[Message edited by jonathan_little on 12-20-2002]

It was my first attendance at the Bridge. Rather impressive for a movie theatre complex. Apart from the regular screening rooms which boast impressive sound systems, first class tiered, airliner seating and ample leg room it also boasts an IMAX screen and what they refer to as The Director's Screening Room. It has a bar and restaurant, and prior to film starts they sell confections from a trolley in the theatres themselves. My 3rd viewing of TTT was here and I will be returning there for my 4th viewing to catch it on the large format screen. It offered a most satisfying viewing/reclining experience.
Incredibly, up until I noted the special mention of it in the theatre listings for TTT, I'd essentially ignored this place since it opened a year and a half ago. Butted up against the 405 in that no-man's land that is Sepulvada and Centinela I had never considered the venue especially inviting. I guess I know different now.

The Bridge is a great theater... SPQR, you should check out The Grove as well. Really nice place. Those two are probably my favorite theaters in the LA area. I caught FOTR at the Bridge last year - a very enjoyable experience.Jeron

I've done a walk-though of the Grove and took note of the grand theatre atrium, but haven't gotten around to actually seeing a movie there yet.

I went to go see SIGNS there, and it was in some random theater (like, theater 8) and it was digitally projected! Talk about an unexpected surprise!
