Yup, he already worked on it a bit a while ago. Exciting project. Disney's is aiming for a more dark movie. Check out this first official image (I've also added the official logo):

NICE! That is my favorite ride at Disney world... I once rode it 7 times in a row when i was there during the low season. It was great, it was just me and my girlfriend in our own boat seven times. Anyway, I LOVE the poster image, ripped straight out of the first part of the ride... "Dead Men Tell No Tales" lol. Wonder if silvestri will do any reworking of the "Yo Ho Yo Ho" theme, or if the film will even cover the ride. By the looks of the poster, i would assume so. Also, did you guys know they're releasing a film based on the Haunted Mansion as well? Should be interesting. Silvestri is a wonderful choice for this project IMO.Rich

PLUTO NASH 2?

Interesting news Dan. Should be... interesting with Murphy. I know absolutely nothing about the film, I just saw the teaser poster the other day and was enthralled with it, as it is my second favorite ride. I'm hoping they tell the story behind the plot of the ride, I always thought it would make a good film (a tad to dark for disney though).Rich

Hey, Rob Minkoff will be directing Haunted Mansion! He's the director of the Stuart Little films. It opens in November 2003 and Alan hasn't got a project yet at that time. Shouldn't be unlogical if he scores it!

Didn't Robert Harmon direct The Hitcher? That's gonna be one issue-oriented ice cream cart...

What's your deal, Ryan?3 pictures with Disney, the first, CROSS M' HEART, is in development with Bruckheimer Films. It's a comedy set in San Francisco, starring Wesley Snipes as an obsessive-compulsive school bus driver who romances a sassy crossing guard played by Queen Latifah. It was supposed to be a sequel to KINDERGARTEN COP, but Arnold elected to do T3 instead.
Trevor Rabin is scoring.

Well I wouldn't mind Alan Silvestri on any project. He can meld himself to any of the movie he's in. I just rewatched Lilo&Stitch. Splendid score to one of the most funnest and most memorable animated movie today. Does anyone know about that rumor plan for a score CD to L&S? Not happening?

Rich,
Unfortunately there are NO official story behind the most greatest Dark Ride ever created. The so-called "plot" of the Haunted Mansion is just a huge collection of story strands from different sources, most of them from the Park cast members.I'd rather not see the HAUNTED MANSION MOVIE to be produced AT ALL - the Disney Company should understand to leave some things untouched (--- but what can one do with executives like they have nowadays ?) The video sequels like CINDERELLA II show clearly that the Disney Company has lost totally its way. Walter Elias Disney is tossing and turning in his grave veeery badly.

By the way,
JOHN DEBNEY would be the best thing for THE HAUNTED MANSION movie - that is, if those darn Disney executives aren't planning for a sequel, "PHANTOM MANOR" which will be obviously scored by Debney since he has done the score already so splendidly for the attraction itself.

Ken, you and I share a common love for the disney Mansion variations and their relative scores. The one good thing that could possibly come out of a film would indeed be a nice orchestral score that makes use of the original attraction's glorious music...Pirates has potential to be a LOT of fun (both film and score).

I saw the movie poster for Pirates of the Carribean when I went to see Nemesis this weekend. Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Alan Sivestri scoring and if I'm not mistaken, the director is the same guy who directed The Ring. That's an impressive line up for a movie based on a Disney ride. Has Disney got an official website for the movie yet? I didn't notice a site name on the poster.Bradley
