1. In the dorm- I have a 4 speaker setup with a subwoofer. The wattage isn't that great for the subwoofer but it gets by playing scores and putting that extra *oomph* into Zimmer scores.2. While traveling- A cd player. I think that the headphones make or break your listening experience. If you use earplugs you miss alot of the symphony. I recommend the ones that rest on your ears. It provides you with enough treble and bass.
A cd player is quite cumbersome though, especially if you are walking and want to change tracks or cd's.
I also have a minidisc player. It's smaller than a cd player and holds the same amount of music as a cd, with no loss in quality when you record it.

I listen with my ears.
Seriously, didn't we already have a topic[/i] like this?

I either use:
CD player in the computer(s)
CD player with my stereo system
Portable CD player.[Message edited by Kevin on 12-05-2002]

Laying down naked, sometimes in the dark, with the cd player on my chest so i can "feel" the music. There's this one Goldsmith piece that is great to listen to that way.

It's usualy a mix of playing a CD through my home theatre set up, or on the stand alone hi fi system. The former usualy always plays host to first spins of a new score CD purchases. When traveling on the train two and from London I will make up an MD compilation of various score cues that I would have been listening to most at that time and listen to that as I travel. The portable CD player accompanies me to and from London if I am going to the city to buy a new score.

This may sound scary and dangerous, but I listen to score whilst driving, becuase it's the only time my mind doesn't wander to other things.I also make compilations of lush music to play during mealtimes at weekends, to see if my family likes them.

Mostly always on my computer, but in my car sometimes as well. 3 piece speaker system on my computer. Sub is extremely impressive so I'm always happy unwinding with a score playing on my computer

If I'm not listening to them in my car I usually listen to them on my DTS/Dolby Digital home theatre system.

This threads make me realise that when I eventually have my own place and enough cash to get a decent sound system, it's gonna be like hearing my scores for the first time...

I listen:- At home in the living room on my 5.1 setup. I don't care that much for the sound that Dolby Prologic II creates for scores, so I usually just listen to them in stereo.
- At home in my bedroom on my stereo when I don't want to annoy my parents.
- In the dorm room on 2.1 little tiny Polk speakers via my computer.
- In the car with mix CDs I've created for that purpose

Seriously though, I too listen to a lot of music while in bed at night and when having a lazy lie-in some mornings.
I also listen to music playing through the house while getting ready for work. I dont have a great system, just my computer/CD/DVD player running through an old Panasonic Hi-Fi Unit on the auxilary input. I've added four speakers to the unit and have speakers on the computer too but the whole system combined isn't much more than about 40 watts which is fine for me.
I usually have a compilation tape of wav/ mp3 files in the car for my 20 minute drive to work and any particular music I get to like I will burn onto CD-R at a later time.
