    I just read that the National Board of Review has given Elmer Bernstein a Career Achievement Award for Film Music.

    Yeah, I agree. Elmer looks prime for an Oscar this year. But then, a lot of people were saying that about Thomas Newman and "American Beauty" and John Williams and "Saving Private Ryan" and Jerry Goldsmith and "Mulan" and ... oh, the list goes on.

    But he's definitely primed for a nomination. It's always nice to see the musical legends on the Oscar list.
