    Folks,

I just ordered the double CD to Two Towers from BestBuy.com for only $11.99, not the $25 or so price elsewhere. They're selling the single disc and the double, both at the same price, so make sure you select the double disc option.

I think they made a mistake on this one, so, print out the page with the price on it, in case later on they sent you the single disc. In which they have to comply and give you the double disc.

Take advantage of this, and order it before they changed the price! And do it Quickly!! It's a big bargain opportunity.

Please let us know if you're successful.

LOL, dude, there's no second CD. It's just the limited edition - comes with the extra track "Farewell to Lorien."

That's still nifty if they are selling the limited for the same price as the regular edition... that's a bargain.

Well, that's just how screwy Best Buy is. They actually list it as a 2-disc set, with disc two being the Lorien Suite.

Ah...I was about to predorder this ,but then I realized that buy the information listed. BestBuuy has not made a difference between the two releases. Like being a Limited Edition version, or showing the sku numbers. Both just simply say The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
I'm thinking I'll order this LE disc, but I'll receive the Regular release.

That's strange, every where I've been shows it as a 2 disc set saying that the suite is on it's own CD.

Which I guess if you're a purist would make sense cos the cue is not from The Two Towers and doesn't fit on the TTT CD.

Of course, these are minor details in view of the anticipated humongoginourmous 10-hour-or-so continuous release after 2003 where I presume everything will be neatly in chronological order...

The "non-limited" edition has ECD content, right? Without that, this cue could have fit on the CD without the need for an expensive "limited" edition.

    Jonathan,

ALL TTT CDs have the ECD content.... including the limited.

    Clayton,

What he's referring to is a quote from Howard Shore last year, when he said that when all three films are done, he would like to release all the music he wrote/recorded for all the films.

Which who knows? It could be 10 hours.

Who gives a crap about ECD content?

I buy a CD for music, not some gimicky "Macromedia Shockwave" presentation or choppy Quicktime video that I could download from a freaking website. Leave this stuff for the DVD.

So then don't look at it.

    Clayton

PS>I was a little screwed up on the times, I thought we were talking about THE TWO TOWERS, not all the films. My bad.

If the single disc release and "limited edition" release (supposedly a single disc as well) both have the ECD content, why wasn't this cue included to begin with on the single disc release?

Because they want people to spend more money and buy the limited edition. Money, man... major record labels don't do anything for any other reason.

Here's a tip that seems to have been forgotten: there is no multimedia content actually on the TWO TOWERS disc, besides a Macromedia menu. There's only links to content at Reprise Records' website, where you can view the music video, making of score featurette, etc.

My biggest complaint about ECD content is that takes space away that would be better spent on additional cues.

Even if it is only links, which is really a waste, there is a certain amount of overhead, 50 megs I think, that is lost no matter the amount of content. 50 megs would work out to about 5 minutes.

Given a choice between data I will access only once or five minutes of additional music that I would hear about a hundred times, I'm pretty sure I know the choice that most scorefans would take.

Not looking at it won’t put more music on the CD.

Yeah just like that extra junk on the Die Another Day cd. What a waste of disc space.

Strange - I didn't find anything (didn't look that hard, really) but did click through on the "making of the score" in the flash menu, only to have my browser load up with a page on the Reprise Records' website.

Try opening up the CD-ROM on your computer, and not "Autoplaying" it... Of course, that's on a PC... if you're on a Macintosh, who knows what ya get??

Ahh yes the good ole days of trying to find a computer that would play the enhanced CD's. I could always get GNP's and Ryko's enhanced discs to play but could never get any other ones to play on my PC, like Nixon and Shadows of the Empire. I've since gotten a new PC and I need to pull out some of those enhanced and try them.
