    LOTR: TTT

Mucho grande bande sonore!!! I can now quietly put Nemesis on the shelf to collect dust. Poor Jerry.

today I got the Two Towers for 11.99 at Best Buy. Wasn't even marked as being on sale.

one of the intelligentsia on the rec.music.movies newsgroup panned Two Towers as "dull" and the orchestrations as "simple-minded."

got a good laugh outta that one.

Anyway, I'm on my second listen right now, and this is just stunning. New variations on old themes, new instruments, new themes, Evenstar.

As a whole, this one surpasses even Fellowship. Consistently engaging.

BTW: Made the mistake of trying to watch Bakshi`s Lord of the rings last night. What an abortion of a film. And Rosenman`s score is just an abomination. Very possibly the worst fantasy `epic` score ever. It plays out like underscore to some goofy sixties TV show and is completely inappropriate. Overall, then, very much like his other `masterpiece` Robocop 2.

I just added How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (Rhino)

That makes my classic TV Christmas collection to this:

    A Charlie Brown Christmas
    Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Santa Claus is Comin' to Town / Frosty the Snowman
    Grinch

Can anyone think of other TV classics available I haven't mentioned?

    It finally arrived:

    • Home Alone 2: Deluxe Edition (John Williams)

Should have ordered from Colosseum after all - the customs wanted nearly €11, which is more than the Varese/Colosseum price difference - and I wouldn't have had to wait over two weeks for shipping from Colosseum either.

NP: Home Alone 2: Deluxe Edition (John Williams)

Just picked up Goldsmith Conducts Goldsmith (or as Borders calls it, "Goldsmith on Goldsmith" )

Silva lovingly decided to give me two copies of the liner notes. By doing so, the inserter machine broke the four little tabs on the case that hold in the notes. I really wish something other than the door of the case would break sometime, because I'm running low on those.

It sure is nice to hear that beautiful sounding Blue Max suite.
