Just saw some movie, it was a western.I'll describe a few scenes:
Aa group of guys had taken this lady out of a wagon and took off on their horses and had the lady and a old lady and the indian guy tied on strings. Then this guy appears on the horizon on a horse. 4 of them set out on horses to see what he wants and eventually they all get shot and the guy rides down there and shots the rest of them and then frees the people. He said something about leaving quickly cause the Hopa (How ever you spell that) indians weren't going to like them shooting their friends.
It had a good score. Anyone know what i am talking about?

Sounds like Outlaw Josey Wales. Clint Eastwood. Was he in it? Score by Jerry Fielding. There is a scene in that like that. John.

Yeah, sounds like that one....Justin, in the future, you can also look up your television listings at http://tv.yahoo.com/ and see what was playing on that channel at that time....

dgoldwas, Dan, i could do that, but it would defeat one of the reason for making this post- to get people opinions. I want to start up a conversation. It should be known i own not a single cd of score from that composer. If it is that movie and it is Fielding, then perhaps other Fielding suggestions can be made.

I think Fielding's best score is for The Wild Bunch. Check it out Justin. It is also one fine and at times shocking western.

Wild Bunch is my favorite too by him. I also like Gauntlet and Nightcomers. Really great scores. J.

(You know, like how most proactive people do on this board.)
Wow. What an amazing idea.

Unfortunately Justin, there's not much around available from this great composer. The Wild Bunch - the complete edition, the one to have - is now oop.
Ditto for the series of releases produced by Nick Redman (Straw Dogs, The Mechanic, etc..)- though some of them might re-surface one day thanks to the likes of FSM)
Which leaves you with THE GAUNTLET available from Warner France and a hell of a jazz score.
And THE OUTFIT coupled with POINT BLANK (Johnny Mandel), recently issued by FSM in their Silver Age collection. A must-have IMHO, but not everyone's taste I must say.

Don't forget Advise and Consent on LP/CD and those Enforcer cues on LP and I am fortunate to have copies of the 2 LP set the above poster mentioned, stumbled across both it and the Nightcomers in St. Louis at the Record Exchanger.See ya, J.
