    metaphor123,

Well as you yourself said, THE BOY WHO COULD FLY was released. It's just incredibly hard to find, now. There's a difference between "unreleased" and "rare".

Justin, how's that "cleverness" thing workin' out for ya? Not too good, eh?

Obviously if it crossed his mind, then all he's doing is complaining about a score that was already released - when this thread is about unreleased scores. Maybe you need to understand the definition of that first.

JJH has already said it, but I second it:
    *Mystery Alaska.

These were released a looooong time ago on vinyl and need to be re-released on CD:
    *633 Squadron
*Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines

and, more recently but still not on CD
    *American Flyers

And I'd give a testicle to get my hands on a CD copy of Momentum's release of Goldsmith's 'The Trouble With Angels'.

Screen Archives still has BOY WHO COULD FLY. And THE TROUBLE WITH ANGELS shows up from time to time on Ebay.

    Let's not forget Herrmann's

ALL THAT MONEY CAN BUY aka THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER

Good enough for an Oscar, but not yet released or fully re-recorded. A symphonic suite derived from the score is (was?) available from Unicorn and from Koch, but the complete surviving score has not yet seen the light of day.

Yeah, and it's on a bootleg CD as well.

I'd like to see the first digitally recorded score on an official CD.

These days I don't exactly find listening to a 23 year old LP the best way to enjoy a score.

...and by Varese here in the States on lp, cd and cassette BUT...this is one of the worst albums in history, missing around 45mins. of score, mediocre distant sound, and about 10 mins. of the running time eaten up by a)a reprise of the main title b)sound efx suite that sounds like a fun experiment, but ends up being nothing more than a random suite of explosions with a couple unreleased cues buried under there.

And yet, I still love the cd, just wish more had been put into the production end of things. Prime candidate for reconsideration(there might be back up tapes around out there) or re-recording(wouldn't mind McNeely and Townson taking a crack at this on a good day)......

I would love to see a release of the score to S.O.S. Titanic, by Howard Blake. When I was little I taped the theme off the tv..it is a sad melody, and captured the tragedy of the sinking for me better than Horner's music ever will.

I was saddened that this theme never showed up on any of the many Titanic cds that appeared in 1997...

it's Ok Gae, I do the same thing too
I just wish someone would give this score the treatment it fully deserves....including that reprise of the end title(exactly the same thing heard in track one)is such a waste....same performance, everything. Very lazy.....

Varese issued a re-recording of cues from BACK TO SCHOOL with re-recorded cues from PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE.

The Varese disc is very good, but I'd love to hear the original performances and the additional cues.

I meant that the Varese CD was not the original film tracks. Its a re-recording.

Point taken Dan, but it would be great to see a complete CD release of this first digital film score, how many people on these boards even own an LP player?

    Unreleased stuff?

    More from my personal wants:

    Batman: The Animated Series
    Magnum P.I.
Elmer's rejected score for The Journey Of Natty Gann.
Austin Powers score. (Not counting the silly cd will songs that might havea cue or 2.)

There's a CD from RCA Victor of music from the first two AP movies. Though the films couldn't be any worse if they'd been written and directed by a constipated walrus, the album is terrific, plenty of faux-Barry and Mancini.

And yeah - the AUSTIN POWERS, SCORES BABY! CD has music from both films, but is still pretty short, considering the music written.

And at this rate it doesn't look like GOLDMEMBER is gonna get a release.

Yeah, sad isn't it? Among the scores that came out that year, that one deserved a release. I have an unmentionable longer version. But this is most deserving of a release than other scores that have come out recently.

And at this rate it doesn't look like GOLDMEMBER is gonna get a release.

Between justin and dgoldwas, Goldenthal is right.

    Come on, goofballs.

Because music is on a CD does not mean it is "released." To "release" something, there's a lot more needed than a CD burner or CD pressing plant. Promos not licensed for sale, ahem, The Boy Who Could Fly, are not "released." To release something is to license it for sale. Licensing music for a limited edition constitutes a release (the difference between a promo and a limited release). That said, the original tracks from The Boy Who Could Fly have not been offically released. The re-recording has, but not the original tracks.

As for LP releases, I think it's obvious Paul's question does not include LPs. But I could be wrong about this. Still fun to wish for things that aren't officially on CD.
