Lions Gate Records Releases Soundtrack Featuring Songs by tomandandy, The Cure, Blondie, and Others, Available October 8, 2002

(Los Angeles, CA, October 1, 2002) – Based on the best-selling novel by Bret Easton Ellis, RULES OF ATTRACTION is being brought to the big-screen by writer/director Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction). RULES OF ATTRACTION is the third of Ellis’ novels to be made into a film.

Few authors have captured the decadent 80’s like Bret Easton Ellis. LESS THAN ZERO focuses on Clay as he returns home to Beverly Hills after a term away at college, and his relationship with an ex-girlfriend and his best friend, whose life is spiraling away in a drug-induced haze. His second novel, RULES OF ATTRACTION introduces the characters of Sean Bateman (brother of the main character of AMERICAN PSYCHO) and Victor, the protagonist of GLAMORAMA.

RULES OF ATTRACTION focuses on a small New England college and follows three members of its student body: Sean Bateman (Dawson’s Creek’s James van Der Beek), the bi-sexual Paul Denton (Ian Somerhalder--LIFE AS A HOUSE), his ex-girlfriend Lauren Hyde (Shannyn Sossamon--A KNIGHT’S TALE) and their extended group of friends and family including Lauren’s roommate Lara (Jessica Biel, TV’S SEVENTH HEAVEN), Victor (Kip Pardue--REMEMBER THE TITANS) Kelly (Kate Bosworth--BLUE CRUSH), Marc (Fred Savage—TVs The Wonder Years), Lance Lawson (Eric Stoltz), a member of the Camden college faculty, Mrs. Denton (Faye Dunaway), and family friend Mrs. Jared (Swoosie Kurtz).

And so it goes with endless rounds of drug-alcohol-and-sex-drenched campus fetes.

The Lions Gate Records soundtrack release RULES OF ATTRACTION features original tracks composed by tomandandy and a collection of hits from artists including: The Cure, Blondie, Yaz, Harry Nilsson, Erasure, Donovan and Starland Vocal Band.

Electronic artist tomandandy has composed innovative music for numerous films including THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES, NATURAL BORN KILLERS, and WAKING THE DEAD. They have previously teamed with director/writer Roger Avary for 1994’s KILLING ZOE.

The Lions Gate Records release RULES OF ATTRACTION--Music from the Motion Picture will be in stores on October 8, 2002. The Lions Gate Films release RULES OF ATTRACTION will be in theaters nationwide on October 11.
