SUNSET BOULEVARD (Franz Waxman, RSNO/McNeely; "a genuine film music masterpiece and features over 70 minutes of music. Also featured as a special bonus track is the nine-minute, never-before-heard cue Waxman wrote for the film’s lost morgue scene prologue.") - Nov 19

THE EMPEROR'S CLUB (James Newton Howard -"wondrous, infectious score, full of melody and spirit") - Nov 12

XXX (score CD; Randy Edelman - "explosive and action-packed") - Nov 12

Looking forward to Edelman's version of The Peacemaker
Don't know about the JNH score though. The preview for the movie is okay, didn't make me want to see it very much. Though it did remind me alot of Dead Poets Society.

    Sunset Boulevard's great!

If you all haven't tried that new Rebecca Varese CD yet, you're missing out on some great music. Much better than I anticipated.

    well...there it is.

I hate to snub great Waxman in the face but I feel the only reason why Varese is doing REBECCA or SUNSET BLVD is because of the films and not the scores. There are a lot of other Waxman scores much more deserving of a re-recording than these.

and why shouldn't they? They're great movies with great scores.

Have you bothered to listen to the Rebecca album? It's great music, and certainly deserving of the lavish attention Varese have directed towards it.

I wonder when Varese will be ready to announce their next batch of club releases?
