New for me as fo this weekend:NIGHT CROSSING, the expanded edition, Goldsmith - held for years since I had the original release, figured it was time.
PAPILLION, expanded, Goldsmith, just a wonderful score.
BEST SHOT, Goldsmith, what luck!! Ran across this in Tower here in Chicago, never seen it in any other record store - what a find!
CQ, Mellow - the film was goofy and fun and the score is 60's style pop-flavor, very enjoyable.

Hey Jonathan,do you think too that the Mathieson Recording is much superior to the McNeely version? I just ordered it a couple of days ago, and think it is fantastic.
Best Wishes

Philipp, I don't own the McNeely version of Vertigo, but this version is quite well done. I think the artwork is better, too.
If anything, the interesting historical background of the Mathieson recordings makes it worth owning.I have no doubt the McNeely version is much better sounding, but the old recording is quite acceptable. I can barely notice the difference between the stereo and mono tracks. The tapes, though stated to be in rough shape, sound much better than Rhino's 'restoration' of North by Northwest.
I like it. And like I said about it last night at the chat, it keeps growing on me.
