For Immediate Release
Experience Evil in its Purest Form With The Music From
RED DRAGON
Decca Records/UMG Soundtracks Releases Danny Elfman’s Electrifying Score From The Thrilling Prequel To The Silence Of The Lambs & Hannibal CD Available September 24, 2002(New York, NY, August 13, 2002) – Based on the best-selling novel by Thomas Harris, Red Dragon is the eagerly anticipated prequel to The Silence of the Lambs, winner of five Academy Awards including Best Picture, and Hannibal. Directed by Brett Ratner, the film stars Oscar® nominee Edward Norton as ex-FBI agent Will Graham, an expert investigator who quit the Bureau after almost losing his life in the process of capturing the elusive Dr. Lecter, played again by Academy Award® winner Anthony Hopkins. The haunting music heard in the movie was written by film score-extraordinaire Danny Elfman, and is slated for release September 24, 2002 from Decca Records/UMG Soundtracks.
For almost a decade, Danny Elfman has masterfully scored the darker side of Hollywood. From monsters to super heroes, innocence to malevolence, Elfman adds a mystical touch that distinguishes him from other composers. As a member of the legendary rock band, Oingo Boingo, Danny Elfman is one of the few artists that have established themselves as both a composer and rock star. He has drawn a large legion of fans, all of whom find his work refreshingly original and innovative. His music from numerous projects including Batman, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Planet of The Apes, Spiderman and soon, Superman, have garnered him accolades around the world, including a Grammy for
In Red Dragon, Elfman’s compelling score melds perfectly into every hair-raising scene, reinforcing the intensity cascading throughout the masterful plot. A striking disc from start to finish, subsequent soundtrack listens rekindles the excitement and suspense similarly felt when watching the movie unfold on screen for the first time. Added features of this enhanced CD include interviews with Elfman, along with director Brett Ratner, as well as Hannibal himself, Anthony Hopkins. Also included on the enhanced CD is the Red Dragon trailer, exclusive photos and web links.
In Red Dragon, after a series of particularly grisly murders, Will Graham’s character reluctantly agrees to come out of retirement and assist in the case. But he soon realizes that the best way to catch this killer, known as the Tooth Fairy, is to find a way to get inside the killer's mind. And the closest thing to that would be to probe the mind of another killer who is equally brilliant and equally twisted. For Graham, that means confronting his past and facing his former nemesis, the now-incarcerated Lecter.
Rounding out the award winning cast are Academy Award nominees Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson and Harvey Keital. Universal Pictures and the Dino De Laurentiis Company in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer present Red Dragon in theaters everywhere October 4, 2002.

Excuss me? Elfman scorring Superman? Just how bad do they want this movie to be? A number of people already read script parts and flat out hate it. Jimmy being gay, Kryton didn't explode and more nonscence. Now Elfman is going to scre it? This is one movie i will pass on.I love Elfman's work, just bought Spider-Man, but Superman material he ain't.

Justin, I don't know what's worse... Your atrocious spelling or your complete inability to understand the concept of a press release. It's no small wonder that industry people have such a low opinion of filmmusic fans.

Actually it's my bad on this one...I was sent a draft and a final version of the PR. Earlier this week I had to reinstall win xp and apparently saved the draft (read unproofed) version of the PR.I will be getting the corrected version and will forward that one around.
Sorry for the misposting!

Very clever BMikeJ.Well, since he has nothing of vaule to add here, nuts to him.
He can't even look passed a few spelling errors and make a post in response to the thread.
And people in the industry are not gods. They have no right to look down on us and some of them are just pathetic, i.e. Ford A. Thaxton.
I laugh at this guys posts alot. What a loser. He can insult us all he wants, but i bet in his room he has got gifts from composers of unreleased and complete scores and listens to othem all the time and laughs at the very idea that some of us might enjoy doing the same. And CineMedia Promotions, what are you saying? Do you mean that Elfman is not scoring it? What was wrong with your above post?

This is a press release. As in, a representative from a label posts about an upcoming CD release. You are not meant to respond to it.
Secondly, I'm an educated man. But I am unable to follow your train of thought in this post. Who is "this guy" supposed to be? Me? Or Ford? Actually, I'm rarely ever able to follow your train of thought as it gets derailed by your grammar. I am glad that you have a sense of humor about it, though.posted 09-27-2002 09:23 AM PT (US)

Sorry for the double post, I missed this post when I read the thread.First off, I'm female, and I don't mumble

Actually I DO read the boards and not just post and run...I actually like to hear what people are saying about my projects...word of mouth is important to me (and my clients).

FishChip

Hey what's up with all the attempted muffling? I'm the fish-chipped crack police force around here, and no one is silenced without first serving (without bail) the standard sentence of 25 bags of fish chips an hour for 24 hours. Go on home, all of y'all. Nothin' to see here. Go on home and play yer Ataris.

What's up wih us?We simply have no respect for people who make no attempt at proofreading their own posts for grammatical errors.
I don't give one whit about the content of your posts, but clear up that spelling, mister. It's distracting, and given your own delusions of grandeur, not really conducive to attaining that which you seek: the status of film score collector know-it-all. One is taken seriously by one's method of communication, and one with piss poor spelling is likely to be made fun of forever...

Errors? You want to talk about errors? There is no such thing as usage of a comma before the word "and".

Actually, to be technical, there can be the use of a comma before the word and, depending on the sentence construction and personal preference. If there is a phrase with a noun and a verb, followed by another phrase with a noun and a verb, the comma is pretty much required or you get a run-on sentence. If there is no second noun, and only a verb, the comma isn't needed. Hence, JJ's sentence, with the comma before the and, is correct.
