Oh yeah. I'll definitely be picking up this CD on Tuesday.

Horner one week, Elfman the next. It's good to be a film score fan.

I picked up the CD today and the original track list I posted is correct, not the Screen Archives list.

By the way, the score is amazing. Truly the best thing I've heard from Danny Elfman in 10 years. The main title theme is stunning - really memorable stuff. Also, the CD has CD-ROM material with interviews with Elfman, Brett Ratner and Anthony Hopkins - and includes footage from the scoring session. This is the definition of a must-have disc. Oh, and it runs 57 mins.

Don't you think you're jumping the gun just a little with that last statement?

We still have a lot of exciting scores coming: 2 by John Williams ("Catch Me If You Can" & "Harry Potter..."), Goldsmith's "Star Trek Nemisis," 2 by Elmer Bernstein (or 1 and a half depending upon the outcome of "Gangs of New York" but my money is on "Far From Heaven"), David Arnold's "Die Another Day," Howard Shore's "LOTR: The Two Towers," Philip Glass' "The Hours," Eliot Goldenthal's "Frida," James Newton Howard's "Treasure Planet," plus many others.

I'm sure "Red Dragon" will be a good score. I haven't heard anything but the few clips off that site, but I can assure you there are even more exciting things on the horizon.

    James

    Enh.

At first listen, this isn't bad. I'm not ga-ga over it, but...it sounds like Elfman doing Howard Shore, which is not bad in and of itself, but... Perhaps as uninspired as I am about seeing RED DRAGON, maybe I'll like this more after seeing the film. It's at least varied enough, though, I like that. Not a lot of repetitious, um, repetition.

    Bond1965,

Obviously when I say that it will be best score of 2002 I mean it as an expression of my own opinion. And honestly speaking I don't see any of the scores you mention having a potential to be as exciting as this. But then, I'm an Elfman nut
