    Good topic,

I will be listening to Hans Zimmer's "The Thin Red Line" for the most part of the 11th. I pray that nothing happens on the 11th or the 12th. May those who perished almost a year ago rest in peace.

    Rich

Just pointing out that many of the victims of the September 11th attack last year were NOT Americans - we should pay tribute to them as well.

My own personal choice to play is Bernard Herrmann's For the Fallen, and possibly Mozarts Requiem.

I was thinking about making my own collectio too. This is what I came up with:

    1. Prolouge (JFK, Williams)
    2. Arlington (JFK, Williams)
    3. From the beach, silently weeps (On the beach, Christopher Gordon)
    4. Adagio for Strings (Barber)
    5. Band of Brothers Suite Two (Michael Kamen)
    6. The Flag (The last Castle, Jerry Goldsmith)
    7. Father Kolbe´s Preaching (Wojiech Kilar)
    8. Platoon Suite (Georges Delerue)
9.Main Titles/Choral Piece (Shadowlands, George Fenton)
    10. Omaha Beach (Saving Private Ryan,John Williams)
    11. Light (Thin Red Line, Zimmer)
    12. Nimrod (Sir Edward Elgar)

    May we never forget them!

    Philipp

Hi Brian, I am looking into it. I've received quite a few requests for it, but cringed at the idea of the suite not being permanently located in it's proper context (the page and track description, etc.)

Once you put an MP3 out there, it spreads like hell.

    Ryan,

That suite of music really represents the atrocity that happened on 9/11 well. Would you please make an MP3 of it? or at least e-mail me a copy of it. My e-mail is rdouglas@sbcglobal.net

As a die hard Jerry Goldsmith fan, I think the only choice for the day would be Williams' Hymn for the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan.

I second playing 'Hymn to the Fallen'. It is an excellent piece which really capture the feeling of the whole experience. Performing that piece only weeks after September 11th sort of made that particular cue one of my all time favorite listens.

Other suggestions include any of Zimmer's more melancholy segments from "The Thin Red Line" (I don't really consider 'Journey to the Line' appropriate for Wednesday) and also 'An Epitaph to War' from "Glory" by James Horner.

Hey, what can I say...I'm a sucker for choir music.

    I just have a two-piece program:

    1. JOHN BARRY: "The Day the Earth Fell Silent" from The Beyondness of Things
    2. TREVOR JONES: "The Will of Good Men" from Thirteen Days

The first movement is a representation of the horror, shock, despair and separation, the second movement depicting the efforts of the police officers and firefighters, and the unity and togetherness experienced in the aftermath, ending with a bold statement of hope.

I played James Newton Howard's The Hand of Fate Parts 1 and 2 from SIGNS. In it is struggle, victory and finally peace.
I also played Jarre's Building the Barn from Witness. For me this reflects the resilience of the human spirit.
