If there is anybody that can work extremely well with electronic and acoustic orchestra, it is you-know-who!Name some of your favorite electronics sounds that Jerry has used. Me, being a big fan of them, have plenty to list...
*That electronic whistle used in TOTAL RECALL, BASIC INSTINCT, THE VANISHING, MALICE, POWDER, and HOLLOW MAN. A lot of times it's in the main theme. For instance, the first verse of "The Hollow Man" was played with this whistle.
*You know how when you smile and then let your face form an "O", but you still play the same note. It seems to get deeper w/o changing notes. He did this with a fast-paced techno sound in STAR TREK: INSURRECTION.
*Another one of my favorites are those 1982-esque techno sounds in ALONG CAME A SPIDER. They are used in scenes like the "Missing Picture" scene. The thing is, they are not cheesy like in those 1982 movies. In "The Ransom", we are once again reminded that there is only one person that can combine martial-type music with hip techno sounds. Another sound similar to that one is on the track "Real Time" on the album for THE SUM OF ALL FEARS. It comes in at about 1:35/1:36. It can also be heard at its best in the track "Fun's Over" in HOLLOW MAN (pre-"Find Him")
*In A.C.A.S., during Dimitri's computer chat with Soneji (pre-"Cop Killer"), we hear these deep piano notes, pizzicato strings, and then these fast-paced deep techno sounds.
*One more thing from A.C.A.S., when "Alex Cross Is Invited" to the Roses', he takes the shoe out of the mailbox, and that's where the [what I like to call] "electronic shocks" begin. Something similar to that was in "Terror In Bed" on the HAUNTING album.

Hans Zimmer does indeed do the electronic/orchestral blend better than JG as does James Horner and Basil Poledouris! The majority of Goldsmith's 90's output has been ruined by his tiresome electric twiddlings.
IMHO
