Okay, now I'm all for Loran promoting his stuff, but to get the IMDb to list him as the composer on projects that he's obviously NOT involved in... well, that just seems a bit much to me.

(we're hoping Dan is now busy searching for all past threads that "dis" the IMDB as a crock when it comes to reliability)

I do agree though. Hell, I've never heard of Loran Alan Davis, yet there's more bio material on "Poochy" (we had a dog named Poochy once) than most. Written by Narol Nalasivad, a very close friend, I guess!

Eh, if it's accurate, I can't wait to see the credits for M:I 3:

    Music by Poochy

(maybe it will be a little edgier to say "Music by the Pooch")

Heheh. Sunday morning funnies. Good grief, as one pooch's owner often says.

    Wait a minute.

Narol Nalasivad is Loran Alan Davis BACKWARDS.

This is a friggin farce. Forget about the request for sound clips. Someone take this guy out of town and Deliverance on him.

The internet's a lot of fun. Thanks for reading the "PeterK figures it out" column. Published here with each and every mention of "Pooch" on the web.

    Peter,

I'm constantly posting re: the inaccuracy of the imdb. And I know these listings are not true, which is why I posted here to begin with. Go back and re-read my post. My "issue" was with the tactic of abusing the IMDb to promote one's self. Not that the IMDb was inaccurate.

But your "Poochy" comments are hella-funny.

    Dan

Ok, everyone, hold on to your belly: excerpts from the Great, the One and Only Loran Alan Davis' bio, as written by a very close friend of his, Narol Nalasivad (wink wink).

    * Nickname
    Poochy

(hi hi hi... I know Peter saw it... I just wanted to make sure everyone saw it. It's Poochy Davis, everyone!)

    * Award-Winning Composer and Conductor

    * Loran displayed a unique habit of improvising on keyboards before he was ten. (Well, ain't he the little Mozart!)

    * Recently, Loran returned to college after twenty years to complete B.A. degrees in a demanding ten majors! (Yes, Poochy's multitasking too!)

    * Despite his incredible academic and research responsibilities, Loran continues to compose. (Oh my God! Women of this world, what are you waiting for! Date the Pooch while he's still available!!)

    * His specialty, of course, is composing dramatic orchestral film music. (The Pooch would never go comedy! Noooo!)

    * Media Enterprises, a media firm that produces his compositions and those of his very talented wife, Lorie. (Ha! Screwed ladies! This Pooch is married!)

    * Loran hopes to reach his goal of scoring major Hollywood productions while continuing his research and educating the public to the wonders of music and the role it plays in film. (LOL)

    * In addition to his wife, Loran has two sisters and a brother; and a son, Matthew, from his first marriage. (And that's when his wife realized what kind of egotistical pooch her husband was and left him! Bam! Divorced Poochy!)

    * Loran's wife, Lorie, is a distant descendent of the famous outlaw Jesse James. (ROTFLMAO!!!)

Loran "Poochy" Davis, ladies and gentlemen! A good round of applause!!!!

    Thank you,

    The Pooch Lover

Hey! I heard Loran Alan Davis was booked for SPIDER-MAN 2!!

Yeah! Ain't that exciting? He's currently talking with Tobey Maguire on the approach he's going to take with the scoring. Apparently, Raimi wasn't too happy with Elfman's crap, so they went with a rising composer, our very own Poocher!

It should be announced on the IMDb very soon, as well the opening of Davis' very own edgy studio, THE POOCHTORCH FLATS, and maybe, if everything goes well, in three years, a bigger, bolder studio called MEDIA POOCHY.

I just can't wait to get my hands on a real MP score!!!!!

    AAAHHH!!!

Guys, if you REALLY want to laugh your butt off, please do follow this hilarious thread here:
    http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.asp?threadID=9522&forumID=1

As mentionned before, this is where it all started, and it's only beginning :)

I haven't seen comedy this funny since Robin Williams in his prime :) This Pooch fellow is just a riot! Watch him pluck his strings as he talks about his mother on chemo and his disabled wife! See him impersonate fake identities to reply in compassion to all the vile people of this world attacking his credentials! Watch as he doesn't score all those blockbusters and ends up in his mom's basement for the rest of his life, eating Kraft Dinner and playing with his Moog!

This guy is divine! I love him :) Keep up the comedy, bro! We love you all, and Jesus loves you too!

Hmm, seems somebody is ignoring my posts.

I'm very skeptical. I guess I've seen one too many "psychological experiments" on my favorite film music message boards. Why the hell would Loran be listed under a composer of War of the Worlds (2004) on July 28, 2002 when the damn credits only contain H.G. Wells, the director and two producers in addition to his name? Come on?! It seems a bit early in the game to be thinking about music.

Call this a personal attack if you want. I don't know how else to classify it.

But did you all know that I've been hired to do a photo exhibit of "The Composers of the 21st Century?" I'll be talking to all the current composers, and doing their portraits.

I'd better get my info stuff up in IMDB fast!!!

Heh, that's pretty funny. I guess I won't write any reviews of his work at Cinemusic, then.

By the way, Dan, if you do get in touch with either Lightstorm or Cruise/Wagner tomorrow, could you possibly post a message as to what they said?

    Thanks,

Most interesting thing about this story is: Ford is right when he calls so many people 'fanboys'.

Look at how little it takes to create a frenzy on two of the biggest soundtrack message boards. And all of it because someone claims to compose a score for a movie.

Wonder what non-soundtrack-whackos on the street would say about this story. Maybe they care more about what coffee flavour is coming next month to a Starbucks® near you...

Looks like I was suckered into Loran Alan Davis's bullsh*t ego trip along with the first enthusiastic members acknowledging his thread. I first became leery when I saw his name on Imbd listing so many top projects way ahead of actual start dates. Unless your John Williams working for Spielberg, or Herrmann working with Hitchock, the composer is usually the last one signed on to the project. But one last question, why would he do this unless he was already signed to a contract, or received a letter of intent from the producers?

Umm... insanity? Low self-esteem? Remember, the internet is the place to hide your real identity. There used to be an old saying "believe half of what you hear and none of what you read." It's now added "2% of what's on the internet."

Or as my university psyche professor would say, "a pathetic cry for attention."

I don't know Loran, but I do question these so called projects he is working on, or going to be working on.

    War of the Worlds? Huh?

There are more vaporware projects listed then, than any.

HAHA! According to IMDB, BOTH Loran and Cliff Martinez are scoring Solaris for Soderbergh! All of this is too much, especially since Loran has "Daniel2" sticking up for him now over at Filmtracks. This is so freaking sad.
