Anyone curious about James Newton Howard's score to "Signs" can hear web exclusive MP3 re-mixes by Paul Oakenfold, etc. of the score at www.signs.movies.com

I listened to a couple of them and found them interesting. A appetizer to the real meal...JNH's score.

    James

By the way...the CD is ONLY the score and features no remixes.

    "Brilliant remixes".

    That's what they say.

    "Brilliant remixes".

    I stress the word "brilliant".

    I call this butchery.

But hey, I know some people will enjoy this. What I could hear of the score sounds promising. Thank God we're getting the actual score on the CD....

("So, I took this crap that this guy, I dunno who, hmm, like, composed for the film, you know, like background songs, and uh, I just remixed the whole thing so it's more like... in touch... with, you know, the modern audiences. So I added some techno beats and some drum loops, and I personally think it's brilliant")

    Oakenfold.

    Puke.

I listened to the second one and the bassline is from Grand Canyon. I hope it's not in the actual score.

Man I can't WAIT to hear this score... seems like these days I anticipate a new score by Howard more then any other composer... those remixes sure wetted my appetite. Is there any way to Download them and save them to your computer??? From what I can see you can only listen to them at there site... anyone been able to download them?

Must have been Oakenfold's "Grand Canyon Mix".

No, there's nothing like it in the film. Expect a companion piece to the previous two Shyamalan scores, somber, subdued, and add to it the music you've been hearing in recent previews and trailers, the tense stuff. It doesn't intrude into the film. Hell, it doesn't even stand out.

Beware, by the way. The movie is pretty glaringly flawed. In flawedness, it's a step down from UNBREAKABLE. Know that going in because moments of it, long stretches even, are treats - it just doesn't hold together well.

MAN I can't wait for the movie. I LOVED Unbreakable. The Sixth Sense, while technically creepy and well done, left me a little cold.

Nothing beats watching Sam Jackson play a crippled comic book collector with a secret agenda!

    "THEY CALL ME MR. GLASS!"

Signs looks like a promising young director finding his muse.

I loved The Sixth Sense... Most people I know were disappointed by Unbreakable but not me. I actually loved it MORE than The Sixth Sense. So I find myself really looking forward to Signs and what Night has to offer us this time.
If anything, I hope, I PRAY, that the album for Signs will sound better than Unbreakable, which sounds atrocious.

We had the local movie theater want to do a promotion with our astronomy club for this movie. We turned them down, because that's all we need to do is foster belief in UFO's and that crop circle junk. I even turned down the free tickets to the film.

    FYI:

The location shooting (the farm) was on my wife's home turf, Bucks County, PA.

See how quickly these topics stray away from the original subject. I see Scott's point now.

A truly fantastic, memorable remixing passage occurred with the Kraushaar-credited score for 1953's Invaders From Mars. It was at the film's climax when everyone's fleeing the sandpit and flashbacks are juxtaposed over a close-up of David. Real powerful wordless choral moment.

I know remixing occurred per Sixth Sense opening credits but it worked fine for me. Just wish they had included it on the soundtrack release .

    PS
oh crud, just realized I was talking about relooping not remixing; oh well, 's late at night what can I say
