Yeah, DARK CRYSTAL is the one that really rocks my boat too! ...and to anyone who hasn't heard this...YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING!..one of THE best fantasy scores EVER written, of that there is no doubt!!
As far as new releases go I don't really care too much, it's been a long time since anything has really blown me away and that includes LOTR:FOTR which I thought was a really good score (and probably the best of recent years), though it doesn't stand comparison with the plethora of great scores by the likes of Goldsmith, Williams and Poledouris of 20 years ago!

Just TTT. Nemesis will probably be OK, but I don't anticipate anything but a by the books score from Goldsmith. I've kinda given up on expecting anything notable from him anymore.

Yeah, he's had his day. He's over 30. I guess we'll just have to throw out all the other great scores he's written in the past. Those don't count for anything, right?

HELLO!!! DUH!!! I was referencing the present, not the past and I was responding to NEW scores coming out, not something like the SWARM , which when I first slap it on my CD player, will be like the 2nd best orgasm I'll have ever had. That's a joke if it need be said. Make yourself useful, and go swat some flies...[Message edited by SPQR on 07-17-2002]

I'm looking forward to ST: Nemesis, but no more than any other Goldsmith score. I was hoping this would give him a more different canvas to work with than normal, but after reading the script it doesn't seem to me that this film will be anything more than the standard action fare Jerry usually gets saddled with.Of the scores I'm really excited about which are coming later this year, I'd have to say The Two Towers, Chamber of Secrets, and Gangs of New York are my three most anticipated. And if Don Davis ends up doing anything this year, that'll be on the list too.
I'm much more excited about the years beyond, though. Early word on Danny Elfman's Red Dragon is very enticing, Don Davis is back in Matrix territory, and I'm really anxious to hear music for the film version of Neil Gaiman's Coraline, regardless of who Henry Selick hires (he seems to have good taste in composers, so I'm not worried).
I'm not sure if The Touch has a US release date yet, but I'm really looking forward to that one as well.

Oh, and it'll almost certainly be a "Music From And Inspired By..." job as well.

Usually, it's the movies that I get excited about before the score. Usually, it's the films I have little expectations for that have great scores (and the movies turn out to be great also). That said, Catch Me If You Can is the biggest hope for the rest of the year. Harry Potter in a way, just to see how the collaboration works out.
Down the road, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Alan Menken's return to Disney!
