Just read at cinescape.com that Warner Bros is very serious about Wolfgang Peterson starting his dream movie, a Batman/Superman movie in one. It stated that they would want it to be released in 2003. Would'nt it it awesome for a Williams/Elfman team to compose this movie. Williams would score all superman sceens and Elfman all Batman. I would be in heaven if that happened.Matt

And don't have Elfman working with Williams, the Elfman will sound like utter crap compared to the rest of the score!

Why not split the difference and hire Shirley Walker to write the score. If any of you have watched even one episode of "Batman: TAS" or "Superman: TAS", you'd hear that Walker is more than up to the task.Note: I know that she didn't score every episode of the two series, but I think she'd be perfect.

Wolfgang Petersen is one of those director who hasn't found his musical countepart. Like the Ridley/Zimmer, Spielberg/Williams, Raimi/Elfman combo. I for once wouldn't mind seeing David Arnold tackle a subject like this.

Wolfgang Petersen's head is in the toilet -- with his career. This man is a horrible storyteller it seems. After the solid DAS BOOT and IN THE LINE OF FIRE, he delivers a couple of turds (AIR FORCE ONE and THE PERFECT STORM).Can he figure out a way for Clark Kent to utter the words: " there's no goodbye, only love"?

What's the likelihood of this movie actually happening? There have been continuous rumours and "reports" about new Batman and Superman movies for several years now with nothing starting production. If only Dean Cain (sigh) could star as the Man of Steel again in something, I'd be eternally happy, but in reality I know it will never happen. Hollywood wouldn't consider him a big enough draw anymore.

The only thing I didn't like about Perfect Storm was the OBNOXIOUS Jimmy Horny mediocre score. With AFO, I didn't like the fact that it was soo goddarn patriotic. Wolfgang just need a good solid crew and cast and good material to work with and things would be good. If anything, he'll treat Superman and Batman as solid dramatic characters and not camp and silly archetypes, a la Joel Schumacher did.

I hope you're not pulling my chains because I seem to be the only one to actually like his portrayal of Superman.

Well...I do think he is beautiful AND he does look like Superman in the comic books to me...but I've seen him in quite a few movies (most recently in Gentle Ben ) and I think he is quite a talented actor. Of course, I am a "housewife" so I guess that means my opinion on this matter (according to Darth) is biased, right?Reeve was (is) a very talented actor too, and I think both men portrayed the character extremely well. However, Reeve is not able to portray the character anymore, and even if he was still physically able to star as an action hero, he is now too old to be a 30-something year old hero (or even 40-something for that matter). I only said I would love to see Cain handle the character again because he is still young enough to portray the character in his "prime" for this alleged movie.
At least Cain would be a better choice than Nicholas Cage!

I think WB fast tracked this because of the hit Spiderman made. Musically they could be intelligent and get someone like Bill ross or Don Davis to play with the original Elfman and William themes...it would effective AND cost effective. Hell, you can play them in counterpoint since they are strongly triplet based...This is likely to never happen because its too good an idea.

Well I remember a little blurb tied to this that made the entire concept sound intriguing...Superman is a hero with a clearly defined sense of right and wrong, as he strives to uphold his sense of right. Batman is a character on a path of self-destruction. The two begin as partners but end up turning on one and other.
I would look forward to such a film if it did explore the darker side of Batman that was merely hinted at in Tim Burton's films. The contrast between the characters would be fascinating. However, I think the success of the film will rely heavily on the leads. I still think Billy Zane would be terrific for one of the roles, but after The Phantom I doubt that is likely.
Matt Damon...uhhh..don't think so. Ben Affleck...with Daredevil in the works that is also doubtful. I think it should be older actors...Nick Cage...that was always a ridiculous proposition.
Oh well...I will remain optimistic. Superman deserves an update and Batman an apology for BatmanVRobin.

Don't laugh! I always thought Clint Eastwood would make the coolest Batman. Think about it, have him on stilts, over 8 feet tall... All grizzled and burnt out... His little bat ears curled at the ends. Only light him with a small spot on his mouth and eyes. Total badass!
Oh well... Chuck out all that cool stuff. Wolfgang Petersen is directing...

Did anyone see Conan last night? He was talking about the Batman vs. Superman movie and what a horrible idea it is.He did the whole trailer voice when he said, "Superman has super powers and can move the Earth of its axis......and Batman.....works out a lot."
That was paraphrased, but it was pretty damned funny.

The only reason this movie would exist is due to the fact that the comic book version actually came first and it works. There's alot of interesting issue to be discussed regarding the idea of Superman and Batman and I hope that the movie will address it.
If not, it'll be an intriguing movie to see.

I think it could be, and probably will be, damn good. I'm a huge fan of Superman and Batman and I had a horrible feeling about this at first, but after reading what Wolfgang Petersen had to say about it, I have HUGE hopes about it and have a very good feeling that it'll be great. He has a great grasp on the characters AND most important, respect for the best movies in the series (the first two).
