Here's a listing of upcoming score releases as reported by cinemusic.de (in German, but you shouldn't have problems reading it, it's 99% album titles ).

The stupid bit: They don't list their sources. Great Train Robbery Deluxe Edition - I so hope this is true, but has it been confirmed? I know the rumour that Jeff Bond (or was it Lukas Kendall?) said Varese are going to do it, but I don't know if this is true, either. Varese's website still has nothing on the subject.

And what's that about Papillon? Any confirmations for that?

NP: Planet of the Apes, suite (LSO, Jerry Goldsmith)

They do list it as a Varese release, along with Waxman's REBECCA, which I thought they recorded ages ago.

What's THE SALAMANDER, which is listed as a Prometheus release for 2003?

NP: RAISING ARIZONA / BLOOD SIMPLE (Carter Burwell)

At least the Train Robbery bit seems to be true.

I've always found it curious how the Eurosites (particularly Cinemusic.de and traxzone.com) often seemed to be better informed and had more information than many of the leading north american sites.

Re Red River: The rerecording by Bill Stromberg/John Morgan is finished, the final editing is being done, the liner notes are being written and it will probably be released this Fall.

On another board, Ford Thaxton confirmed the Deluxe Robocop and Deluxe The Great Train Robbery are being readied for release by Varese.

If I am not mistaken, the Ivanhoe that is being released are the original tracks. The currently available score available from Intrada is an excellent re-recording by Bruce Broughton.

The new Ivanhoe release is supposed to be from Rhino, I believe.

There are many rumors flying around about upcoming Varèse Sarabande Club releases and future Deluxe Editions. Most of these rumors originate from the same, decidedly untrustworthy, source. Without addressing which titles are indeed forthcoming and which are not, I would like to say that Varèse Sarabande does not announce titles before they are final. The identity of Club releases can change mere weeks before they are officially announced. No orders for any of these rumored titles should be placed with Varèse Sarabande or any vendor before there is official confirmation. Some of the titles discussed have already been, at least temporarily, cancelled.

Good-spirited speculation is always fun but those who claim to hold all the answers should be looked on with a wary eye.

It would be a damn shame if some of these titles were cancelled due to an early leak before they were completed.

Yes, Mark, it would be...but why would any company hold back releasing a product just because advance hype resulting from an information leak? Something like that is free advertising and therefore useful.

I'd have to agree. Why would a label care about speculation on future releases? How could it possibly hurt sales?

I don't see anything in Townson's message indicating that CDs have been cancelled because of internet speculation.
