I guess many of you will have read this thread over at FSM, but for those who haven't, check it out!
I'll let the speculations about future FSM releases go for the moment, no matter how reliable they may be.

Goddam, it's a legit Swarm! And Blow Out. Bonza Donaggio & Goldsmith goodness! Having trouble breathing. Too excited. Need more money.

I'll buy all three. THE SWARM I used to have on vinyl (and gave it away), and I do like a lot of Howard's work.

And you can NEVER have too much Donaggio.

    Amen to THAT Richard!

This is one of those 'miracle' releases, for me, that spawns gushy love mail to record producers.....I'm so happy a clean, legal, hopefully complete BLOW OUT is coming, I can't even tell you....I'll even listen to the silly parade/interuption music with happy ears You know the scene with Travolta driving through the Philly parade, that is disrupted on the old Japanese LP boot by a funky version of Turkey in the Straw?

Even that will make me a happy man
So, let's see your ass Prometheus, my lips are a-waiting! Is that better!?!??!
    Sean

PS....and The Swarm too...that's equally good news Since we get so much Goldsmith now though, me thinks we're spoiled. The Donaggio is much more exciting

That's a semi-inside gag there Dan, something that has been winding around the other boards....check out this week's Filmus, might make more sense if you read what's going down over there

Speaking of Pino Donaggio, I heard my first score from him today; something frmo a couple years ago called Up At the Villa. Quite nice, actually.

I know many will be utterly amazed that it took this long for me to hear a score of his, but frankly, one cannot listen to all scores and watch all movies ever made.

I'm not gonna argue with you about that!!

JJH: goodyou've been able to catch up with him. Up at the Villa is pretty good, isn't it? Now you need to listen to/watch Dressed to Kill, The Howling, Don't Look Now &, goddamn it, tons of others.

    Bring on the Donaggio goodness!

    Here, here Pete!

I was going to try and start listing great Donaggio scores worth hearing....then I remembered this thread:
    http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/008662.html

Up at the Villa is a good one, glad to see Varese upholding a tradition of releasing Donaggio's music....I haven't had the money to hear some of the newer, more obscure titles he's done though

    There ya go

News in the latest issue of Soundtrack magazine -

Coming soon from Prometheus: BLOW OUT (Donaggio), THE SWARM (Goldsmith), and THE PACKAGE (J.N.Howard)

Very possibly nearly definitely coming soon from Varese: THE FURY (original tracks, Williams), ROMANCING THE STONE (Silvestri), PREDATOR (Silvestri), COMMANDO (Horner), and MAGIC (Goldmember).

    Oh goody goody gumdrops!

Typical Fox stuff as to be expected. I know the fanboys are crying for a legit Predator.

As for The Fury, it is one of my favorite Williams scores, but if I recall correctly the album (which is a re-recording with the London Symphony Orchestra) is a much better recording than the original. This holds true also for Michel Legrand's score to The Other Side of Midnight. I just watched that film recently and was struck by how lousy the score sounded compared to the LP which was a re-recording with the aforementioned LSO.

I'm perfectly happy with THE FURY as it stands now. But the rest of them I'm up for, though ROMANCING THE STONE will mean one less reason to buy the CASTAWAY disc (as I have all the other OSTs on that disc).

And word on when Varese's next club batch is announced?

The Swarm? The Package (I've always liked JNH)? Romancing The Stone (and Silvestri)? PREDATOR?

Someone catch me, I'm going to faint...

Does anyone know the exact date for 'The Swarm' re-release? I heard that it would be released in September. Prometheus' web page is rarely updated.

Aaron, Intrada is showing a tentative release of "The Swarm" in September (no exact date), "Blow Out" and "The Package" in October.

A local music store (I live in France) mentioned September 20th. I really don't know if this is reliable, but I'll check it on that day !

BLOW OUT is sooooooo good. It's about time this showed up on CD. I mean there was a Japanese LP and a boot tape but to have it clean and complete. If it wasn't for the cost of these things adding up, this is the most amazing time to be collecting film music. Things I never dreamed I'd ever hear or own just keep falling off the trees every month.
