Hmmmm ... doesn't look like there are any bonus tracks from the LP. More reason to hang onto it! There's quite a bit of music on the LP that doesn't appear in the film, including the great "Overture" and "Love Theme," and the simply magnificent pipe-organ showpiece, "Funerals.""Jen's Flute Part Two" ought to be a VERY short track, unless more was recorded and not used in the film (which is ALWAYS good!)
Also, unless there are cues that are included on the CD but not explicitly listed, there's stuff from the film still missing. "The Emperor Dies" might be paired with "The Mystic Master Dies," but it's not listed. "Danger on the River" might come at the end of "Find the Gelfling/Crystal Bats/Kira," but it's not listed as-such. And does "Garthim Attack Aughra/Jen Escapes" include the music for the departure of the Mystics at the end of the cue? There might be a reason to refer back to the DVD isolated score after all. It would be nice if the track-list were a little more comprehensive. Perhaps Jeff can obtain track times for us?
Oh ... and there are a few misspellings in this track-list (re-typed, I assume). It's "Trial by Stone," "Chamberlain's Garb," "Kira Appears," and "Land Striders."
In any case, all that aside, this track-list remains horribly exciting!
In the first place, cues that were abridged in the film, edited, or tracked and spliced (yes, it happened) will probably appear in their original form ONLY on this CD! In the second place, I fully expect the sound-quality to be magnificent. In the third place, I look forward to some juicy liner notes. And last but not least, buying this CD will give me the opportunity to personally thank Trevor Jones with my wallet.

That's like a set piece on the original LP. Perhaps it has a different name in the tracklisting. The overture was also a great piece.
This will be a monumental release. 34 tracks is a lot though...I would have thought more (musical) assembly could be done.

Portions of the Love Theme (or a similar arrangement, anyway) ARE heard in the film, particularly "Dressing Jen's Wounds," so it's possible they omitted a film version in favor of a longer album arrangement. But I doubt it. Again, another good reason to hold onto the original LP.I suspect that including music from the LP would have required a 2-CD set, and Numenorean Music explicitly made the deal for a 1-CD set ... at the least, LP tracks would probably require a more expensive single-disc pressing. In the final analysis, it's the right call. Obscure as it is, the LP IS out there. The CD should primarily try to give us music we don't have, and it's first priority is the complete score that does appear in the film.
I just hope that the spine-tingling Mystic chanting that appeared during the finale on the DVD iso-score is preserved on the CD mix. That was wicked-cool.

In regards to this "supposed' track listing I would like to point out to everyone that this cd has yet to be mastered! I haven't a CLUE as to where this gentleman pulled this listing from. This is NOT, by any means, the tracklisting for Dark Crystal. I appreciate the gentleman taking it down. I guess someone got in contact with him and asked him to remove the post. To that, I am much obliged.Regards,
MV Gerhard

MV Gerhard,
I was given the tracklisting by someone over ICQ. I was contacted by a friend who is working on the cd that he was getting blamed.
So I told him I would take down the tracklisting. For one, I didn't even know he was working on this cd. Two, like i said, I received the tracklisting from someone over ICQ. I apologize to you and my friend who is working on the cd.Jeff

MV Gerhard,
Also, I was told by the person from ICQ that I was the only one they sent the tracklisting to. I informed the person that the tracklisting is not the official version and might change and told him that he shouldn't send it to anyone else. And to wait until your website posts the info.Jeff

Who said he had a friend who works for AICN? He said he has a friend who is on the board. Do YOU work for Moviemusic.com? Same deal.

yeah, we went over this before, ya know. I don't "work for AICN". I contribute an article about FILM MUSIC every few weeks to let the thousands of people who read that website DAILY (more than here, ya know) about upcoming releases, and places LIKE THIS ONE.So if you have a problem with that, tough tittie.

Such a mess....Remember the last thread about this release?
Today I am told there is no 30-day hold for other retailers to order this CD when it's available..... however, the "wholesale" price is $19.98 for 30 days.
Isn't this like saying "we've removed our idiotic 30-day window, yet we're keeping it" ??
What a farce.
As the future draws nearer, this mess only gets weirder. And, as time wears on, I am finding out more and more why. Pretty sad.

Dan, we're just funnin' ya. Do you remember admonishing Brian about jumping to conclusions when I posted something about a "stoning" and you told him to watch "Life of Brian" first?Hence the
emoticon.I think I'll leave now for a long time (As I have to go work outside for a while).

Peter, you're correct. The $19.98 "wholesale" price is a farce. There is no difference between that and the 30 day window. It's smoke and mirrors...but not with a lot of smoke and the mirrors are streaky so you can see the reflection. All this game is doing is creating ill will from the retailers towards Numer. And these retailers are the ones who will ultimately be providing the bulk of the sales long-term. It's like the old expression: don't bite the hand that feeds you. The short term gain created by this non-30-day 30-day window will be greatly offset by the poor feelings directed at Numer. from the other retailers. From a pure business perspective, they should be looking at moving as many of these CDs to as many collectors as possible in as short a time as possible. This marketing ploy will actually impede that goal.

I'd just like to add that amongst this mess, it's good to see the other labels siding with Pete Kelly for once. THAT doesn't happen very often, as per the Thaxton directive.Shaun

Well, as long as you are sure that there will be copies available besides Numenorean, I will wait and purchase it elsewhere. 30 days after all this time is no big thing.I just don't want this to end up like YSH, with people disappointed about not getting a copy. I wasn't on the wrong side of that deal, but plenty of people were.
