Haven't heard from him in a while, just a couple of small movies in the mid 90s, nothing big orchestral score like his very early Trek and Colombus. When people talk about composers for the future they mention McNeely or Debney, or Don Davis and others, but everyone forgets Eidelman, and I think he could be one of the greats if given the opportunity. I only wish he'd got a big Hollywood movie, one where he might be able to write epic themes and so forth.
I'll finish this later... gotta run

well he just scored American Rhapsody and Harrison's Flowers.well, I say "just" as if it was two weeks ago. About 9 months or so I guess, though no one saw neither movie.

[/B]Actually I saw both. I would love to hear more from him but unfortunately if you don't sound like a Hans Zimmer clone, you don't get work.

Are you suggesting that Horner, Williams, Young, and Elfman sound like Hans ZImmer? Or did you just have to throw some cheap attack at a composer you don't agree with?
I have Eidelman's score to Harrison's Flowers, which was released a few months ago. I'd trade it for Frizzell's Thirteen Ghosts![Message edited by TimT on 06-29-2002]

Hey!
Good point up there about Bond-y`s preferences (are your initials R.P, by any chance). His narrow-mindedness is quite intriguing, but at the end of the day, we are all human!
No, but seriously. Eidelman needs a good old big budget assignment, his scores for Christopher Columbus and Star Trek VI are excellent and his drama scores of which Untamed Heart and A simple twist of fate are possibly the best recommendations!

James said that if you are not a Hans Zimmer clone, you're not getting work these days. Considering all the great composers, like Cliff Eidelman, who are languishing WITHOUT work while Media Ventures people like Klaus Badelt, Harry Gregson Williams and John Powell continue to get work and churn out average, cookie-cutter scores, can you honestly tell me there is no truth to what James has written? Narrow minded... Considering some of the stupid, inane comments I've read in the past from Tim and from you recently, I see nothing wrong with what James has written above.

Thank you Mike. For defending me and having the common sense to understand where I was going with my post.
As for the rest of you...I never said I didn't like Hans Zimmer. F.Y.I.: I just got "Black Hawk Down." Haven't listened to it yet but once I am done playing Jan Kaczmarek's "Unfaithful" over & over I'll get to it.

Well, most recently he did the Lizzie McGuire movie. Is there a score release or just songs?

There's a score cue on the song album.
