Water worls was one of the biggest flops in movie history- not to let the record hold, production began on that Travolta movie, but i saw Water world on the Sci-Fi channel and got to say- it was enjoyable. I realy enjoyed the movie.
And the score was terrific. Wasn't it J.N.H.?Your thoughts? (Besides i'm crazy :-() )

Well, financially it didn`t do THAT bad (Cutthroat Island, which I enjoy, was a much bigger flop).
Yes, the JNH score is fantastic (funny how 2 sea-based flops have such great scores)

And who's out there listening to it while you're inside typing this message? Or do you have one of those newfangled Minority Report cars?

Hahah - nooo, I don't have the 2054 Lexus.... but they did have it at the LA Auto Show in January - it was cool to see....
And while I was typing the message, NO ONE was listening to it.

I too enjoyed Waterworld...but then I even enjoyed some of The Postman. Waterworld has a couple of hilarious moments in it. Not worth spending the GNP of a small country to make it, but kind of fun nonetheless.

Was Waterworld worth $xxx, xxx, xxx of Universal's money? No. Was it worth Ģ4 of mine? Yes.The score is one of those that I have on disc but never get round to playing. Like WILLOW and WYATT EARP. Maybe there's something about the end of the alphabet?
NP: TERMINAL VELOCITY (Joel McNeely), and just finished UNDER SIEGE 2 (Basil Poledouris), so probably not...

Yes, Mike, but it made a boatload of money overseas which helped it finally come close to breakeven. I read someplace that worldwide home video sales, cable rights and TV helped push it a little over it's cost. Still a pretty poor return on investment, though, profitable or not. Sorry about the pun.

Personally I love "Waterworld"...both movie and score. Its an old fashioned movie about a man rediscovering lost "values" in a post-apocalyptic universe. The score is fantastic, with "Deacon's Speech" being a highlight of the score. The dramatic momentum of this track just builds and builds and give me goosebumps...what more can you ask from music?

Whoever said it was "kick-ass" is right on the money. With the possible exception of The Mummy, it's perhaps the finest swashbuckler score of the last few years. [Speaking of Goldsmith's score, anybody notice how its love theme is very reminiscent of the delicate subtheme in Waterworld?][Message edited by Bulldog on 06-29-2002]

yeah, we all know that JNH`s Waterworld is brilliant, but does anyone have any info on the rejected Isham score?
This one is one of the only ones that have not yet surfaced on the old boot market

I don't believe Isham ever recorded anything; his concept was to represent the setting in an abstract, sound-design way, and the filmmakers got scared.

Wow, so I'm not the only person in this world who liked that movie? It was fun. The score, as every else has said, is quite awesome.
