Just saw this movie today- Very cool movie.
I have lots to say about this, but not all at once.
The first i would like to do is congradulate Elfman on the best score from him i have heard in many years.
This was an excellant score. I plan to buy this next time i am at my local cd store.
Very very good score.
Not like Men in Black or Planet of the apes where is was spotty in its sound- good parts here and there,m music that doesn't connect or sound good together. This score is a stand alone from those. Perhaps better than Batman.P.S. Wonder what it would have sounded like if Scott Gilman had scored it.

I must second that -- take a pill.
'Tis no Batman. Hell, 'tis no Family Man or Planet of the Apes.

Family Dog was extremely good and up until Spider Man (Not counting Batman) i thought Elfman would never make a score as good as that again.
By the by- it the entire Family Dog on MFADT 1?

Here we go again..... I realise that we are not all Americans on this board...instead we are populated by many great representatives of the world. However, I feel that we should all (within reason, as guided by PeterK) allow some modicum of free speech. As far as that goes, then, if someone gets brave enough to speak their mind on what score they hold highly in their hearts and minds, then who the hell are we to immediately spend fifteen responses THRASHING one person's opinion. To me, (and going back to Brian's other hot thread), this is a demonstration of a lack of respect among our members lately. Instead of going, "How could you think that? BATMAN ROCKS!!!!" say, "Interesting that you would think so, personally, I....."It's far less threatening, you manage to share with us your own hallowed opinion, and you acknowledge that the other person, too, had a valued opinion.

Just stating my agreement with Hasta. If this post has involved "Thrashing," I'd hate to think of what you feel of some of the more lively debates, Maestro.I think most of us have come to enjoy/respect the fact Shaun, for example, has a determined opinion on just about everything. I often don't agree with him, but I've never felt "thrashed."
If everyone agreed, or beated around the bush ("Well, sir, I must say that, with my most sincere regards, that, unfortunately, I do not entirely agree with your post. I mean no offense to you, or to your family, or to your score opinions--please don't think that's my reason for not necessarily agreeing here, it's just that I had a different reaction that wasn't precisely the same as yours...No offense meant; we're still cool, aren't we sir?"), it'd become too 'politically correct' for any movie music fan.
Or, at least too politically correct for me. No offense to the rest of who, who many respectfully disagree.

I saw the film and it was pretty much what I thought it was going to be: big and noisy with lots of CGI. I didn't think much of it, and I didn't think much of Batman either (I'm not a comics or superhero fan). But hey, I'm not paying to get in...And I'm still not overly impressed with Elfman either. Much of what I heard in the film was too typical of Elfman in this genre - Darkman, Batman 1/2, Dick Tracy.
With the exception of A Civil Action, I haven't really liked any Elfman scores since Midnight Run. Paricularly Planet of the Apes, which was basically little more than noise to me.

Well at least John Zimmer remembered what this post was supposed to be about.Maybe you are thrashing (It's ultimetly you who decides if you are) or maybe your not, but this was supposed to be another round of back and forth on who is a piss head or not.
I'm talking about Spider-Man man.Seems alot of posts are turning out this way. Maybe someone should create a post for arguing. Or take it to the junk yard.

Can't compare to Batman! Different character, different movie! I like Elfman's score to bothe movie. It shows an understanding of the characters very well. Though I wish the score CD was longer. I wanted all the score from the movie.Does anyone knows how long the score is in the movie???
