Okay guys, turning to the dark side...
What is the worst music you have ever heard? So bad, it actually did hurt your ears?
Me, I canīt stand german folkmusic, you know, these "heile-welt" - songs, where on the shows, everybody smiles all the time, the world is so nice, etc. The songs sound 99 percent the same to me. Also, I canīt stand loud heavy-metal music, because there just doesnīt seem to be any melody in them.
My guilty pleasures? I must admit I loved the songs of one Jennifer Rush and Neil Diamond once when I was young. Neil Diamond I hear still tody, when Iīm in the right mood.
But thatīs just my two cents.
Let it out ! Confess!

To answer your question...Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring by Howard Shore
...Seriously though, I've noticed I can't really "categorize" my music tastes. I like everything with MELODY and with some sort of witty idea on it - and HEART - whether it's movie music or country or whatsoever. Unfortunately, in my opinion, heavy metal has never seemed to have much melodies or witty ideas on it

Probably my most guilty pleasures are Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" (I luve it!!!), Robbie Williams' "Millennium" plus most of his swing hits, and the 80's disco music like Michael Damian ("Reach Out To Me"), and George Michael with WHAM! ("Wake Me Up Before You Go Go").
I also have a weak spot for almost anything written by Stephen Sondheim, and most music by Andrew Lloyd Webber - and the pure, beautiful-voiced female vocalists on their many musicals.

Ghost. By Maurice Jarre.
I had to give it away to be rid of it.
Non filmmusic music: jazz. I just can't stand 95% of jazz. it annoys me & my ears, and makes me wanna scream. If anyone ever wants to make me admit something which I have not done, they just have to play me jazz until I admit. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
The guilty pleasures: boy bands, latin pop, and oh blasphemy, the occasional song soundtrack.

Yeah, GHOST was terrible, although I loved the instrumental version of unchained melody.
But I think GHOST was the score, that really made me turn against synths.Philipp

I saw "The Burning" for the first time the other night. How in the blue hell did that (for lack of a more appropriate term) score get a release?! I'm well aware that Rick Wakeman didn't have a huge music budget, but he could've put some effort into it.Also, the score of "Scary Movie 2" sucked eggs, not that the 13 or so people hired to write it had much to be inspired by. It galls me that talented people like John Debney, Marco Beltrami and Kevin Manthei ended up on this film.
Michel Colombier's work on "Screwed" is pretty grating, as well.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of any guilty pleasures.

I have always had a thing for Devo and the Cars as well as some of the cheese rock from the 70s.

Hey SBD! I just got a transfer of that a month or so ago
Fun album, it's happily addictive in a weird way.....Wakeman has a big fan base, so how couldn't it have been released?Anyway, my guilty pleasures are all my bad 80's synth pop, Pet Shop Boys, Giorgio Moroder, pop tunes by Goldsmith
and all things bubblegum....gotta balance out that harder edge of Goldenthal, Penderecki, North, Varese, ad nauseum...Sean

Somehow, I think admitting to liking The Beatles is NOT something to be embarrassed about AT ALL.

I actually don't like the "artistic" jazz with a capital letter "J", but I really enjoy most of Williams' jazzy stuff - plus one more guilty pleasures, SWING, especially the big band stuff, and also ragtime, dixie, and anything with spirited, wild tempo that makes me want to go wild on the dance floor (despite the fact that I am an extremely lousy dancer)...
Philipp, thanks for this chance to absolution

"Film score jazz" is often different from the stuff they sell in the Jazz/Blues section of most record stores. It's often more melodic, less jazzy, more classical, and more symphonic. Ultimately, making it more listenable for me.
Still, you're right. I'm not too fond of Earthquake & Co.

Worst music? Well, if you could call the stuff that comes out music, then I would have to say...All of it.
You couldn't pay me to listen to the crap that's on the radio nowadays. The only saving grace on radio is the classic rock format.
Give me the Eagles, Beatles, Rush, etc. No heavy metal, new wave/new age, punk, grung, techno, or the recent boy band/girl band stuff.
But was for guilty pleasure? I will take back a bit of what I said, because I like Sheryl Crow and Natalie Imbruglia.
And I have to say the one soundtrack I bought and haven't listened to since I got is was Gladiator. Good thing I got it cheap.

Does watching the Fox show AMERICAN IDOL: The Making of a trendy, suck ass singer, who will make crap records that sell millions, yet do nothing to advance art or culture even slightly, nicely wrapped up like a little gift package, ready for teenage consumption and adoration?Does that count?

If for some Star Trek reason I could have you beamed into my house Dinko I'm sure I could play you plenty of Jazz (yes capital 'J') that you may well like, like a lot of music it covers such a wide spectrum and I can almost imagine the kind you don't like (very out there stuff by the likes of Thelonius Monk, John Coltrane and Miles Davis), but this field of music covers so many styles I would guess you just haven't heard enough, or what you have heard just ain't your cup of tea.
Film score wise I would check out Fielding's THE GAUNTLET, Schifrin's DIRTY HARRY, BULLIT, COOGAN'S BLUFF, Barry's PETULIA, PLAYING BY HEART!
E - mail me and I'll even send you a CDR sampler of what I think is good...can't say fairer than that!
