BTW- too bad Hollywood Records didn't release the score to the Sixth Sense...at least then we would've gotten the Main and End Titles.

Hope it's better than the last two. Film and score.

....right... cause just because JNH did his first two films, he's AUTOMATICALLY doing the third.

Tell that to Thomas Newman - I'm sure he's wondering what happened to THE MAJESTIC.

Okay, Sixth Sense was fine, but I just didn't dig it (even though I respect the craftmanship). UNBREAKABLE on the other hand, was a freaking GREAT film. I love Shyamalan's style of building tension and suspense while giving a few little clues until he unloads the truth on the viewer. Great Director in a world full of mediocre directors making crap like Scooby Doo.

I am glad he is working with a more animated actor in Gibson than WIllis. Bruno is very servicable, but Mel should bring that everyman against the world acting style to play here (sorry but Bruce played his roles very well, but as an actor I think he plays comotose on purpose).

I'm with you on Unbreakable, Taylor, great film, well constructed and scored, but I felt he really mishandled the ending. I didn't see it coming, but since he used a tracked cue, and basically 'walked away' from the dramatic finish it left me just a tad unsatisfied(although I was still blown away regardless....go figure,eh?).

I haven't sized them up, but the ending is tracked with some of the music from the 'Orange Man' sequence, while Howard's original intention is on the album.

    Ciao,
    Sean

I remember when i saw "Unbreakable"-great movie, liked the score, wasn't blown away though. Then i watched/listened to JNH commenting that he was asked by M.Night to give a score that would be very distinctive and very original in sound; a score that once people heard, they would say "This is the Unbreakable" score. I didn't feel like that when i watched the movie though. In fact, i don't remember the score being so much different in style from The Sixth Sense.
Well, truth is i haven't seen both movies in years so i can't really say how much different my opinion would be, if i watched the movies again. Also, i don't have the scores to judge from that perspective.
Do you think that the scores were significantly different? Or maybe the above comment by M.Night was just a way of saying to JNH "Please, don't copy and paste." ?

    Kyri,

Maybe you should watch the films again. Or get the soundtracks. I thought the score to UNBREAKABLE was quite different than THE SIXTH SENSE. Sure, they share some similar moods, but overall, they're different scores.

I just watched The Majestic, and just as I thought, Newman's absence was definately felt. What a lame, pedestrian Isham-apes-Newman score.
