Does anyone remember this little seen horror anthology from the summer of '83?It featured a young Emilio Estevez,Lance Henriksen and FEAR lead singer Lee Ving, among others.I suffered through this abysmal film on dvd the other day,but I liked what little score I heard in the film. The music was composed by Craig Safan, whose work I have enjoyed in the past. From his wonderful score for The Last Starfighter,to his underrated work on Major Payne.
My question is,does anyone know if there was a soundtrack album out at the time of the film's release?Or if there are any pieces of the score available on any Craig Safan compilations or promos that may be out there.Though I seriously doubt it exists in any form outside of the film.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

Hello Matthew
Great that someone else has mentioned this, since I also rented the film a few weeks ago....it has always been a guilty pleasure for me, since I first viewed it at 7, so I don't hate it as much as many people do.
Great score, and I was suprised to find it was by Safan during the end credits....the 'Bishop of Battle' music is something I've always wanted to have on disc, love that eerie gliss string writing.
Sadly, there is nothing available from this score...no boots, no promo, nada. Not even crummy studio tapes, as far as I've been able to find. However, I did read that he reused some of his rejected score for WOLFEN(1981) in this film....I didn't hear it myself, but either way WOLFEN is worth getting. It's completely atonal and absolutely relentless. Very much worth hearing

Best,
SeanPS....on what might be a happier note, other people have been taking an interest in this one, and the score rated a mention by the Kaplan boys in an issue of Film Score Monthly a couple months ago....so a release might happen. It would be a great listen on disc, lots of orchestral (even choral in one segment)variety.

I've always liked this film as well, especially the "Bishop of Battle" story (which I thought was excellent). I don't remember the score, however...it's been a long time since I've seen the film. I heard that a DVD and VHS are out with a widescreen transfer, clamshell case, and the trailer (would be worth picking up). Anyway, yes, a good movie.Dylan

Thanks guys for the info. It's too bad that it was never released, because it really is a fun little horror score. The 'Bishop of Battle' segment was definately the best part of the film, although it is pure 80's cheese.Coming in second for me, was the first segent 'Terror in Topanga' with William Sanderson(J.F. Sebastian of 'Blade Runner') and Lee Ving of the band FEAR as a psychotic serial killer.
In watching the film for a second time,it wasn't as painful as the first viewing and I was even a bit entertained.Though I really wish that score was available.
Also, for anyone looking for this movie on dvd.It is unfortunately only available as a pan-and-scan version with the theatrical trailer that has one of the funniest taglines. It's funny though, only when you think of how corny the movie really is.Though the transfer is not bad,and looks pretty good for a movie originally made-for-tv in 1983.
