But then while it was TECHNICALLY "recorded in LA" (or in Don's case, his home studio), that isn't really a qualifier for re-use fees as we USUALLY mean for it to be when talking about film scores that have been "recorded in LA".

    Hmmmm, I see.

But what about the promo? Were you saying that Don Davis' promo HAS more than 11 tracks, or that it WOULD have? I wasn't sure if you were referring to something that actually exists or something of a more hypothetical sense.

I want to see a score CD of The Scout by Bill Conti, and I still enjoy the music in the TV movie of Everybody's Baby: the Rescue of Jessica McClure. I'm not sure who did the music for that, though.

    Back with another one...

    THE SANDLOT (David Newman)

These listings are not new to either board, but since this thread is here, what the hell?

    Main Titles (1:36)
    Scotty and Bill (0:58)
    Mom Talks to Scotty (1:26)
    Playing Catch (1:34)
    Scotty Meets the Team (2:36)
    Benny's Pep Talk (1:28)
    Scotty Makes a Catch (1:12)
    Ham Hits a Homer (1:23)
What's on the Other Side? (1:38)
The Legend of the Beast (3:19)
    Wendy Peffercorn (3:14)
    Winning the Game (1:18)
    Man of the House (0:24)
    One Ball, No Skin (1:27)
    Scotty's Big Hit (0:43)
The Beast Has the Ball (0:56)
The Stick and the Pot (1:54)
    Desperately Seeking Suction (2:13)
    The Aerial Assualt (1:55)
    Science vs. Nature (3:05)
    Benny and the Babe (1:37)
    Benny Goes Over (2:02)
    Benny vs. the Beast (1:32)
    Running of the Beast (2:43)
    Rescuing the Beast (2:09)
Mr. Mertle/Where Are They Now?/Benny the Jet (5:58)

Here's hoping for a release (maybe Intrada?) of this underrated and very diverse David Newman effort. Also, stay away from the boot currently circulating. It's far from complete and a good deal of the tracks are chopped up.

David: I can't really say anything about part two, but I enjoyed "Mannequin", score and film. However, I question the inclusion of that Starship song. It's perhaps the cheesiest song ever to be nominated for an Oscar.

    Got another CD here:

    SMALL SOLDIERS (Jerry Goldsmith)

    Logos/Mars Attacks* (1:29)
    Assembly Line (3:31)
    Alan Makes a Deal* (2:07)
    Roll Call (4:49)
    Alan & Archer/"There Will Be No Mercy"*(4:41)
    Branded (2:15)
    Prepare For Assault (3:46)
    Special Design (2:33)
    "They Are Hiding"*/The Funeral* (2:36)
    The Gorgonites* (1:10)
    "And Beyond That?"* (0:41)
    Operation Sandman*/The Gwendys* (2:52)
Alan to the Rescue*/When Gwendys Attack* (6:02)
    I'm Scared (2:01)
    Surrender of the Gorgonzolas* (1:10)
    Great Balls of Fire* (4:18)
    Trust Me** (4:45)
    Chip vs. Archer* (3:19)
    Off to Gorgon (4:41)

    * - unreleased
    ** - contains unreleased music

C'mon, Varese, you're releasing this eventually; just admit it and save yourselves the humiliation!

    Got another one:

    ANIMAL HOUSE (Elmer Bernstein)

    Faber College - 1962 (2:29)
    Boon and Katy (0:44)
    Dean Wormer (1:05)
    "May I Have Another?" (0:42)
    Doug Neidermeyer (0:58)
"Don't Get Mad, Get Even" (2:32)
    Peeping Bluto (1:59)
    The Psych Exam (1:57)
    The Food King (2:45)
    One Night Stand (0:51)
    "Road Trip!" (1:28)
    Otter's Bad Luck (0:36)
"A Futile and Stupid Gesture" (2:42)
    Preparations (1:04)
    "No Prisoners!" (8:09)

Personally, I consider this one of Elmer Bernstein's best scores. Since the score would'nt stand too well on its own (it runs a hair over 30 minutes), I suggest padding the album with suites from other Bernstein comedy scores, such as:

    AIRPLANE!
    STRIPES
    TRADING PLACES
    GHOSTBUSTERS
    LEONARD PART 6
    FUNNY FARM

    For this one, I...

    *Abided by the 30-minute law

    The Church (2:43)

    Road Kill (2:22)

    Total Time (32:04)

I actually sent this suggestion to John Frizzell himself. I hope it at least gets a limited release.

The fact that this score is peppered with Christmas carols is the main reason I love it.

I wish the film had been more successful. I imagine that it was a tough sell (the setting is Christmas and the characters work at a suicide hotline) in its initial release.
