It's not film music, but I would highly recommend an EMI 2cd set of the avant garde music of Krystof Penderecki....there are pieces on there that will make your hair stand on end. Some of these works were used in 'The Shining', so maybe this would count after all....

    Good luck,
    Sean

Is this as opposed to the comedy/woman gets raped/murder movie?

Just what the world needs. More scary/woman gets raped/murder movies to further the art and commerce of the cinema, and the human race.

you could have planned ahead and hired a composer. Some work for almost nothing and sometimes even for free. Anyhow, I would reccomend Memento by juliyan.

So anyhoo, those of you who may or may not be intereted...i'm a very last minute person...and many of my friends are much the same.

So what's happening is, i'm helping my friend out with her movie (a film I haven't seen) by supplying the music.

The scary/woman being raped/murder movie is suppose to be somewhat of a satire as i've been told. Actually i shouldnt' really say until I actully see it tomorrow.

Basically it's a film project that has to be finished by tomorrow at 4:00 - other wise the world ends.

    Anyway thanks for the help!

You can give her this for the poster:

"It's like Dr. Strangelove, but with a vagina!"

Woman being raped/murder... “satire.” Satire? Yuck. Not trying to sound like a
total B****, but attempting to sound somewhat like one, I’ll tell all an interesting
story. Once upon a time there was a movie called Deliverance. Excellent movie. One
of the main male characters was brutally and graphically raped. It was horrid. I
still hear the “pig” sounds. Many people in our theater and across the nation
stormed out because they were so offended. Studies show that many of those same
people NEVER left their seats in Straw Dogs. Very interesting commentary on the
acceptability or tolerance towards rape and gender.

Rant over. I personally found the most horrifying music composed in the past year
was Marc Beltrami’s Joy Ride. (Ironic title, or what?) It may work in this epic.

Yikes...I feel kinda bad for not reading closer now, and offering up a suggestion for scary music....oh well, I might not agree with all of what this film is about either, but the above is some pretty damn scary music

NP: House On Haunted Hill(Davis) Speaking of scary music, this is terrific...fun album, that contains tons of variety in its 54min. run time.

It's due at 4pm (EST, I'm assuming since you're in Toronto) and you haven't seen the movie yet need the music?

Gotta plan ahead a wee bit more next time around!

Just a thought, but if it's supposed to be satirical, try scoring against type. Kubrick used "Singing In The Rain". Use something inappropriate like the Blue Danube, or "The Good The Bad and the Ugly".

Alternatively, don't score it at all. The idea's scary enough without a score.

    NP: MANNIX (Lalo Schifrin)

It turns out the rape scene was in a dream...and the woman gets killed by being run over...it's actually kinda funny because it's really amateur. The ending is just like - 'i don't get it' but then again my friend never said she was going to do a 'good' movie...

I picked the very obvious choices of scary music you can think of...your typical 'halloween theme' but I used bartok '3 ante' (I'm not sure i got the name right) for some added effect...in the end it turned out pretty good.

I just want to thank those who contributed. I wish i could show you guys the movie but i don't know how to upload it on a site. It's pretty short, like 10-15 mins.
